Who Can Apply?
Educational Qualification
- You need a Bachelor's Degree (B.E. / B.Tech) in the relevant Engineering discipline (Civil Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering) from a recognised university or institution.
- Candidates with a valid degree from an institution recognised by the Government of India are eligible.
Nationality
- You must be a citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal, or a subject of Bhutan.
Other Requirements
- You must not have knock-knees, flat feet, or squint in your eyes, and you should have normal colour vision.
- Both male and female candidates are eligible to apply.
Age Limit
- You should be between 21 and 30 years of age as on 11 May 2026.
- Age Relaxation:
- SC/ST candidates: 5 years relaxation (maximum age 35 years)
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates: 3 years relaxation (maximum age 33 years)
- Civilian Central Government Servants / Ex-Servicemen: 5 years relaxation
Salary
- Pay Level-10 (7th CPC Pay Matrix): Rs. 56,100 to Rs. 1,77,500 per month
- Entry pay (basic pay on joining): Rs. 56,100 per month
- Plus DA (Dearness Allowance), HRA (House Rent Allowance), TA (Travel Allowance) and other allowances as per Central Government and ITBP rules
- As a combatised force officer, you may also be entitled to risk and hardship allowances for high-altitude postings
Physical Standards
ITBP is a border guarding force operating at high altitudes. Detailed physical standards (height, chest, weight, vision and PET parameters) will be specified in the detailed notification. The combatised post requires you to be physically fit and able to serve in high-altitude conditions.

Selection Process
The selection will be done in 4 phases:
- Phase I — Physical Standard Test (PST), Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Document Verification: Height, chest measurements and physical fitness checks. Biometric Identification and original document verification at this stage.
- Phase II — Written Examination:
- Paper I (Objective): General Awareness, Reasoning Ability, Numerical Aptitude, General English. Duration: 2 hours.
- Paper II (Descriptive/Subjective): Trade-specific Engineering subjects (Civil / Electrical / Mechanical Engineering). Duration: 2 hours.
- Question papers will be bilingual (Hindi and English).
- Phase III — Interview / Personality Test: Candidates shortlisted from the written exam appear for the interview.
- Phase IV — Detailed Medical Examination (DME) and Review Medical Examination (RME): Final medical fitness check before appointment.
Candidates must qualify each phase to proceed to the next. The final merit list is prepared based on overall performance.

Responsibilities
- Plan, supervise and execute engineering works including construction and maintenance of buildings, roads and infrastructure at ITBP establishments
- Prepare technical estimates, drawings and reports for civil, electrical or mechanical engineering projects
- Monitor work quality and ensure compliance with engineering standards and government specifications
- Manage contracts and supervise contractors during construction and repair works
- Maintain all engineering records, project files and asset registers for the assigned area
- Coordinate with other departments for timely completion of infrastructure projects
- Wear uniform and perform combatised officer duties as assigned, including high-altitude postings
