Defence Materials and Stores Research and Development Establishment (DMSRDE), DRDO will award these 3 research fellowships for a period of 2 years. DMSRDE works under the Defence Research and Development Organisation in the Ministry of Defence. The positions are research fellowships rather than permanent government appointments, and receiving a fellowship does not create a right to future employment in DRDO. The Director may leave a position vacant if no applicant is found suitable.

Who Can Apply?

Research Associate - Chemistry

• Required qualification: A PhD or an equivalent degree in Chemistry or another relevant discipline from a recognized university.
• Thesis submitted: You may attend if you have submitted your PhD thesis, but DMSRDE will award the Research Associateship only after you receive the degree or a provisional certificate.

Junior Research Fellow - Basic Sciences

• Required qualification: A postgraduate degree in Chemistry, Material Science, Polymer Science, or another relevant basic-science discipline in first division, together with NET qualification.

Junior Research Fellow - Engineering

• Graduate route: A first-division BE or BTech in Chemical Engineering or Technology, Material Science and Engineering, Polymer Science or Engineering or Technology, or another relevant professional course, together with NET or GATE.
• Postgraduate route: A relevant ME or MTech professional degree in first division, with first division at both graduate and postgraduate levels.
• Evidence required: Bring the applicable NET or GATE score card and all degree and mark-sheet records to the walk-in interview.

Age Limit

• Research Associate: Maximum 35 years as on 2 September 2026.
• Junior Research Fellow: Maximum 28 years as on 2 September 2026.
• SC and ST: Upper-age relaxation of 5 years.
• OBC: Upper-age relaxation of 3 years, available only to applicants outside the creamy layer.

Fellowship and Benefits

• Research Associate: Rs. 67,000 per month.
• Junior Research Fellow: Rs. 37,000 per month during the 1st and 2nd years.
• HRA: Payable according to Government rules.
• Contingency grant: Up to Rs. 20,000 per year for a Research Associate and Rs. 15,000 per year for a Junior Research Fellow during the first 2 years, on reimbursement.
• Medical support: Medical facilities for the fellow only through the campus MI Room, subject to availability.

These fellowships do not include DA, CCA, bonus, or retirement benefits. The notice also says a JRF contingency grant may rise to Rs. 20,000 in later years if the fellowship continues under the applicable rules.

Selection Process

DMSRDE will select applicants through a walk-in interview and certificate check. There is no separate written examination mentioned in this notice.
