Secretariat Security Force (SSF), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India has released notification for 10 Constable (Barber) and Constable (Washerman) posts. These are General Central Service, Group 'C' Non-Gazetted (Non-Ministerial) positions on a temporary basis, likely to become permanent. Only male Indian citizens can apply for these posts. Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must have passed Matriculation (10th Class) or equivalent from a recognised School, Institution or Board.
• Trade Test: You will also need to pass a Trade Test in your respective profession (Barber or Washerman).
• Gender: Only male Indian citizens are eligible to apply.
• Nationality: You must be a citizen of India.

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 23 years old as on 28 April 2026 (closing date of application).
• SC/ST: 5 years relaxation (up to 28 years)
• OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years relaxation (up to 26 years)
• Ex-Servicemen: Age relaxation as per Government of India rules
• Other categories: Age relaxation as per Central Government rules applicable to CAPFs

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a salary of Rs. 19,900 to Rs. 63,200 per month under Level 2 of the 7th Central Pay Commission Pay Matrix.
• The entry-level basic pay is Rs. 19,900 per month.
• Your in-hand salary will be approximately Rs. 34,000 to Rs. 39,000 per month including DA, HRA, and other allowances (varies by posting city).
• You will also get DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as per Central Government rules.

Physical Standards

For Male Candidates (Barber and Washerman):

• Height: 170 cm (General/SC/OBC). Relaxation for candidates from hill areas, ST, and NE states as per CAPF norms.
• Chest: Proportionate to height and age as per medical standards
• Weight: Proportionate to height and age

Physical Efficiency Test (PET):

• Running: 1.6 km in 7 minutes 30 seconds
• Long Jump: 11 feet (3 chances)
• High Jump: 3.5 feet (3 chances)

PET is qualifying in nature. You must clear each event to proceed further.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in 7 stages:

1. Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Running (1.6 km), Long Jump, High Jump — qualifying in nature
2. Physical Standard Test (PST): Height and chest measurement verification
3. Written Examination: OMR-based or computer-based test covering General Awareness, General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude and English/Hindi
4. Trade Test: Practical test in your trade (Barber or Washerman skills)
5. Document Verification: Checking of original certificates and documents
6. Detailed Medical Examination (DME): Complete medical check-up as per CAPF medical standards
7. Review Medical Examination (RME): For candidates who wish to appeal DME findings

4. Log in and fill the online application form carefully.

• Provide grooming and barber services to force personnel as per duty roster (for Constable Barber)

• Assist in security duties and perimeter guarding when deployed
• Keep proper records of supplies, equipment and materials used
• Participate in physical training sessions and drills regularly
