Who Can Apply?

Head Constable (Communication) — 197 Posts

  • Qualification: You need to have passed 12th Class (Senior Secondary) in Science with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from a recognised Board. Alternatively, a 3-year Diploma in Electronics, Communication, Computer Science, or Information Technology from a recognised institute is also accepted.

Head Constable (Electrician) — 29 Posts

  • Qualification: You need to have passed Matriculation (10th Class) from a recognised Board, plus an ITI Certificate in the Electrician trade from a recognised institute.

Head Constable (Veterinary) — 5 Posts

  • Qualification: You need to have passed Intermediate (10+2) in Science with Biology as a main subject, plus a 2-year Diploma in Veterinary and Livestock Development, Veterinary Stock Assistant, or Animal Husbandry from a recognised institute.

Head Constable (Steward) — 2 Posts

  • Qualification: You need a minimum 2-year Diploma in Catering and Kitchen Management from a recognised institute, plus at least 1 year of working experience as a Steward in a hospital or institution with a minimum of 100 beds.

Age Limit

  • For HC (Steward), HC (Communication), and HC (Veterinary): You should be between 18 and 27 years old.
  • For HC (Electrician): You should be between 18 and 25 years old.
  • Age is calculated as on the closing date of receipt of applications (20 April 2026).
  • Age Relaxation:
  • SC/ST candidates: 5 years
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates: 3 years
  • Ex-Servicemen: 3 years after deducting military service from actual age
  • Government servants: Up to 5 years as per rules

Salary

  • Selected candidates will get a salary of Rs. 25,500 to Rs. 81,100 per month under Level-4 of the 7th Central Pay Commission Pay Matrix.
  • You will also receive Dearness Allowance (DA), Ration Money Allowance, House Rent Allowance (HRA), and other admissible allowances as per Central Government rules.
  • In-hand salary with all allowances will be significantly higher than basic pay.

Physical Standards

For Male Candidates:

  • Height: 165 cm (relaxed to 162.5 cm for candidates from hill areas and specified categories)
  • Chest: 75 cm unexpanded, 80 cm expanded (5 cm minimum expansion)
  • Weight: Proportionate to height and age as per medical standards

For Female Candidates:

  • Height: 155 cm (relaxed to 150 cm for candidates from hill areas and specified categories)
  • Weight: Proportionate to height and age as per medical standards

Physical Efficiency Test (PET):

  • Male: 1.6 km run in 6 minutes 30 seconds
  • Female: 800 metres run in 4 minutes

Selection Process

The selection will be done in 4 stages:

  1. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST): This is a qualifying round. Male candidates need to complete a 1.6 km run in 6 minutes 30 seconds, and female candidates need to complete an 800-metre run in 4 minutes. Height and chest measurements will also be verified.
  2. Written Examination: An objective-type (OMR-based) written exam will be conducted. Minimum qualifying marks are 50% for General/EWS/OBC/Ex-SM and 45% for SC/ST candidates.
  3. Skill Test: For Head Constable (Electrician), a practical skill test carrying 50 marks will be conducted. Up to 20 times the vacancies (category-wise) will be called. Minimum qualifying marks for the skill test is 60% for all categories including SC/ST/OBC/EWS/Ex-SM. Other trades may also have trade-specific practical tests.
  4. Document Verification and Detailed Medical Examination (DME): Shortlisted candidates will undergo document verification followed by a thorough medical examination as per CAPF standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain communication equipment and radio systems at border posts and field locations
  • Assist in border security operations and patrol duties when assigned
  • Carry out electrical installation, repair, and maintenance work at SSB establishments
  • Provide veterinary first aid and assist in the care of service animals and livestock
  • Prepare and serve meals, manage kitchen supplies, and maintain hygiene standards in mess facilities
  • Maintain daily duty logs, equipment registers, and operational records
  • Follow standing orders and standard operating procedures of the force
  • Participate in physical fitness training and annual proficiency tests
