About This Job

Apply for Palliative Care Doctor post at KGMU Lucknow. MD/MBBS with palliative care course eligible. Salary Rs. 1,35,000/month. Last date: 15 July 2026.

King George's Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow is hiring 1 Palliative Care Doctor for its Cancer Palliative Care Unit in the Department of Radiation Oncology. If you have an MD in Palliative Medicine, Radiation Oncology, or Anaesthesia, or an MBBS/MD Medicine degree with a certificate course in palliative care, you can walk in for the interview. The last date to submit your CV is 15 July 2026 (till 4:00 PM), and the walk-in interview is on 18 July 2026. This project-funded post pays a consolidated salary of Rs. 1,35,000 per month.

King George's Medical University (KGMU) Palliative Care Doctor Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

KGMU's Department of Radiation Oncology has opened 1 post of Palliative Care Doctor under the Cancer Palliative Care Project, which is funded by the Cipla Foundation. The unit, led by Prof. Rajendra Kumar, is looking for a dedicated and compassionate doctor to join its cancer palliative care team at the Shatabdi Phase-2 campus in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. There is no written exam for this post — selection is entirely through a walk-in interview, which makes the process quick for candidates who already hold the required qualification. KGMU is one of Uttar Pradesh's largest public medical universities and teaching hospitals, so this role gives you the chance to work in a specialised cancer care setting alongside an established radiotherapy and oncology team.

Palliative care has become an increasingly important part of cancer treatment across India, with a growing focus on pain relief, symptom control, and overall quality of life for patients going through radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Taking up this role means you will be working closely with radiation oncologists on a project that is specifically designed around this specialty, rather than as a general duty posting. If you enjoy patient-facing clinical work combined with a compassionate, team-based approach to cancer care, this position is worth applying for even though it is a single vacancy.

Who Can Apply?

You can apply for this post if you meet any one of the following qualification routes:

  • Option 1: MD / Post Graduation in Palliative Medicine, Radiation Oncology, or Anaesthesia (with specialisation in Pain & Palliative Care)
  • Option 2: MD in Medicine with a Certificate Course in Palliative Care, plus at least 1 year of working experience in patient care
  • Option 3: MBBS with a Certificate Course in Palliative Care

Each of these three routes suits a different kind of background — a direct postgraduate degree in palliative medicine, a general medicine postgraduate who has since completed additional palliative care training, or an MBBS doctor with a recognised certificate course in the subject. Whichever route applies to you, make sure your CV clearly states your exact qualification, the institute where you completed it, and any relevant clinical experience in patient care, since there is only 1 vacancy for this role and the selection panel will be comparing candidates directly on these points.

Salary

  • You will get a consolidated salary of Rs. 1,35,000 per month for this post.
  • This is a project-funded remuneration, and no TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
  • The amount is a consolidated pay package for the duration of the project — there are no separate allowances such as HRA or DA on top of the stated figure.
  • Income tax or other applicable deductions will apply as per prevailing government rules before your monthly payment is made.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

KGMU will select the Palliative Care Doctor through a straightforward, two-step process. There is no written test involved, which means your qualification and experience on paper, followed by how you come across in the interview, will decide the outcome:

  1. CV Screening: Submit your CV along with proof of your qualification and work experience at the Cancer Palliative Care Unit before the deadline.
  2. Walk-in Interview: Attend the interview at the Department of Radiotherapy on 18 July 2026, between 10:30 AM and 1:00 PM.

Note: This appointment is purely temporary and co-terminus with the Cancer Palliative Care Project. You will have no right or claim to a regular position at KGMU, and the engagement can be terminated at any time for unsatisfactory performance.

How to Apply

Since this is an offline, walk-in recruitment, you do not need to fill any online form. Follow these steps instead:

  1. Prepare your CV along with proof of your qualification and clinical work experience.
  2. Submit the CV at the Cancer Palliative Care Unit, Department of Radiotherapy, Shatabdi Phase-2, KGMU, Lucknow before 15 July 2026, 4:00 PM.
  3. Attend the walk-in interview on 18 July 2026, between 10:30 AM and 1:00 PM, at the same department.
  4. Carry your original certificates and experience documents to the interview — there is no separate online form to fill, and no admit card will be issued.
