ISRO SDSC SHAR Multi-Post Recruitment 2026: Overview

Satish Dhawan Space Centre SHAR (SDSC SHAR) at Sriharikota is India's spaceport under the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Department of Space. It sits about 100 km north of Chennai in Tirupati district, Andhra Pradesh, and runs the launch complexes, solid propellant plants, rocket motor test stands and tracking radars behind every ISRO launch. This advertisement fills technical, scientific, nursing, fire, driving and support posts in one drive.

The posts are regular government jobs: the notice calls them temporary but likely to continue, which is the standard wording for permanent central posts. Most selected candidates will work at Sriharikota, but some posts are also open at ISRO units in Maharashtra, Odisha and Telangana. Posts and Disciplines

Fitter is the biggest single trade in this drive, and the Multi-Tasking Staff post is the widest door for Class 10 pass candidates. One Mechanical Technical Assistant post and one Fitter post are set aside for candidates who are hard of hearing (PwBD-HH), and several trade and driver posts are earmarked for ex-servicemen.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Posting preference: for the Physics, Electronics and Communication, Electrician, Chemical, Fitter and Electronic Mechanic posts, you must list your order of preference between the two locations. Your place of posting is decided on merit and preference, and you cannot ask for a change later.
• All-India transfer: once appointed, you can be posted to any ISRO or Department of Space centre anywhere in India during your service.
• Round-the-clock duty: the work includes shift and emergency duties on a 24-hour basis, not just day jobs.
• Pension: new staff come under the National Pension System or the Unified Pension Scheme.
• Driver experience: for the driver posts, only experience gained after getting a valid driving licence counts. Certificates must come from government bodies, registered companies, societies or trusts, and part-time experience is not counted.
• Public Service Badge: the badge is compulsory in Andhra Pradesh, so Heavy Vehicle Drivers from a state where it is not required must get one within three months of joining.
• Fireman medical certificate: Fireman applicants must upload a Preliminary Medical Examination certificate in the Annexure-A format, signed by a government doctor not below Assistant Civil Surgeon rank.
• PwBD posts: if no suitable hard-of-hearing candidate is found for the two identified posts, they stay vacant and carry forward to the next recruitment.
• Reserved candidates: SC, ST, OBC and EWS candidates are considered for unreserved posts automatically, so you do not need to apply twice.
