Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) Library Professional Trainee Recruitment 2026 - 3 Posts

The IIT Gandhinagar Library has opened a traineeship programme for 3 fresh postgraduates in Library & Information Science, offering hands-on experience with emerging library tools and technologies under the mentorship of experienced professionals. This is a "learn while you work" opportunity, not a regular library job — only candidates who haven't started their career yet are eligible. Selected trainees will work six days a week, including shifts and weekend rotations, and can also access hostel accommodation and OPD medical facilities.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need a Master's Degree in Library & Information Science (M.L.I.Sc.) or equivalent with First Class from a recognized Indian university.
• Experience: Only fresh postgraduates are eligible — you must have completed your M.L.I.Sc. programme and hold your final marksheet.
• Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with enthusiasm for learning new library technologies, will be preferred.

Age Limit

• You should not be older than 26 years as on 10 August 2026 (the last date for applying).
• Age Relaxation: SC, ST and PwD candidates can apply up to 31 years. OBC candidates can apply up to 29 years.
• Age may be relaxed further for an exceptionally good candidate, at the Institute's discretion.

Salary

• Selected trainees will get a consolidated stipend of Rs. 28,000 per month.
• Hostel accommodation (subject to availability) and OPD medical facility are also provided on a chargeable basis.

Selection Process

Selection is based on your academic record and performance in the following stages:

1. Shortlisting: Based on your consistent academic record — only shortlisted candidates are called for the written test.
2. Written Test: Conducted in English. The date and venue will be shared with shortlisted candidates by email.
3. Personal Interview: Held on the same day for candidates who clear the written test.
