National Law University, Jodhpur (NLU Jodhpur) is hiring a Research Associate for its Centre for Family Law. The post supports a research project titled "Assessing the Efficacy of Family Courts: A Case Study from Rajasthan", which checks how family courts in the state actually work day to day. This is a short contractual engagement rather than a regular university post, so it suits a law postgraduate who wants hands-on experience in socio-legal research.

What the project studies

The study draws on fieldwork in Jaipur, Jodhpur and Alwar. It looks at court infrastructure, case delays and counselling support in family courts, and the final goal is to suggest practical legal and policy reforms. As Research Associate, you would work with the qualitative data collected from these courts and help turn it into reports and publications.

The centre prefers candidates who already know qualitative analysis tools such as NVivo, write well for an academic audience, and have worked on an earlier research project. Published papers are a plus but are not compulsory.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Engagement length: The post runs for two months. If it is extended, the total will not go beyond three months.
• Stipend condition: The monthly stipend is tied to the completion of the assigned work.
