Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur has released a regular recruitment notice for Group A, Group B and Group C posts. The recruitment covers senior engineering, administration, counselling, hospitality, medical, legal, accounts, technical, assistant and technician roles. The largest openings are Junior Technician with 28 posts and Junior Assistant with 21 posts, so both technical and office-support candidates have a strong chance to find a suitable post.

Who Can Apply?

Senior Engineering and Administration Posts

• Superintending/Executive Engineer: Civil Engineering degree or master's degree with long relevant experience in infrastructure, construction, project monitoring and maintenance.
• Deputy Registrar / Assistant Registrar: Master's degree with at least 55% marks and relevant administrative or supervisory experience.

Medical, Counselling and Hospitality Posts

• Medical Officer: MBBS with completed internship, valid medical registration and relevant hospital experience.
• Assistant Counsellor: MPhil Clinical Psychology with experience, or MA/MSc Psychology/Clinical Psychology with longer experience.
• Hall Management Officer: Master's degree in Hotel Management or allied fields with relevant hospitality experience.

Junior and Technical Posts

• Junior Superintendent: Master's degree with 5 years of experience or bachelor's degree with 7 years of experience, depending on the stream.
• Junior Technical Superintendent: B.E./B.Tech, B.Sc, M.Sc, MCA or engineering diploma in the relevant technical field with experience where required.
• Junior Assistant / Junior Technician: Post-wise qualification is listed in the official advertisement, including office, laboratory, engineering and department-specific requirements.

Age Limit

• Group A posts (Sl. 1 to 8): Up to 45 years.
• Group B posts (Sl. 9 and 10): Up to 35 years.
• Group C posts (Sl. 11 and 12): Up to 30 years.
• Age date: Age is counted as on 3 July 2026.
• Relaxation: SC/ST, OBC, PwD, Ex-Servicemen, regular IIT Kanpur staff and project employees get relaxation as per rules.

Salary

• Level 13: Rs. 1,23,100 to Rs. 2,15,900 per month
• Level 12: Rs. 78,800 to Rs. 2,09,200 per month
• Level 11: Rs. 67,700 to Rs. 2,08,700 per month
• Level 10: Rs. 56,100 to Rs. 1,77,500 per month
• Level 6: Rs. 35,400 to Rs. 1,12,400 per month
• Level 3: Rs. 21,700 to Rs. 69,100 per month
• Allowances: Transport Allowance, DA, HRA, NPS employer contribution, Medical, LTC and Children Education Allowance are also applicable as per rules.

Selection Process

IIT Kanpur will decide the screening and assessment method based on the post. The recruitment process can include these stages:

1. Application scrutiny: Online applications are checked against post-wise qualification and experience.
2. Written test or screening: This may be used for Group A, B and C posts as decided by the Institute.
3. Seminar / presentation / interview: Used for Group A posts. Medical Officer selection is through interview.
4. Skill test or job-oriented practical test: Used for Group B and C posts where required.
5. Document verification: Original certificates are checked before the practical, presentation or interview stage.
