Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IIT Gandhinagar) Project Assistant I Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Research & Development Office of IIT Gandhinagar has released Advertisement No. CON/13219/Advt0293 (dated 6 August 2026) for 1 Project Assistant I post under the Soft Robotics project led by Prof. Madhu Vadali in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. This is a temporary, project-based position for a duration of 12 months, and you will be based at the IITGN Robotics Lab. Fresh B.Tech graduates as well as candidates with prior experience in soft robotics are welcome to apply — the Institute is looking for someone who can contribute across modelling, simulation, hardware, electronics and experimental testing.

The role gives you a chance to work on real, multidisciplinary research projects in soft robotics alongside other lab members. You will get hands-on exposure to hardware prototypes, electronics, coding and experimental testing rather than just classroom learning — a good stepping stone if you are considering a career or higher studies in robotics.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need a B.Tech or equivalent degree in Robotics or an allied engineering discipline.
• Marks Required: You must have scored at least 60% or equivalent grade from graduation onwards, and at least 55% in both your 10th and 12th board exams.
• Preferred Background: A strong foundation in robotics and control systems is highly desired, and prior hands-on experience in soft robotics will strengthen your application.
• Attitude: The lab is looking for someone who can work collaboratively with other lab members and bring a positive, enthusiastic approach to research work.

Salary

• You will get a consolidated monthly pay of Rs. 28,000 to Rs. 53,000, depending on your qualifications and post-qualification experience.
• This is a fixed monthly amount for the 12-month project duration — no separate DA/HRA/TA is mentioned in the advertisement.

Selection Process

IIT Gandhinagar selects candidates based on their academic record and fit for the project — there is no written exam mentioned for this post:

1. Application Screening: Your application is checked against the essential and desirable qualifications listed above.
2. Shortlisting: The Institute may apply a higher cutoff than the minimum eligibility criteria — meeting the minimum requirement alone does not guarantee that you will be shortlisted or appointed.
3. Final Selection: Shortlisted candidates are contacted directly by the project team for further evaluation and appointment.

Note: IIT Gandhinagar reserves the right not to call any applicant for a selection round or not to fill this position at all, without giving a reason.
