Indian Institute of Management Mumbai (IIM Mumbai) has issued a rolling advertisement (Advt No. Admn/Rectt/Faculty/2025/09, dated 31 October 2025) inviting applications for Professor of Practice / Associate Professor of Practice. IIM Mumbai, formerly known as the National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), is one of India's newest Indian Institutes of Management. This role is meant for professionals with exceptional senior leadership experience in industry or government who want to teach MBA and management development programmes as a full-time activity. A Ph.D. is desirable but not mandatory — strong domain expertise gained from the field can make up for the lack of a doctorate.

Who Can Apply?

For Professor of Practice:

• You need a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in industry or government, including at least 5 years at a senior leadership level.
• First-class (minimum 60%) or equivalent grade in your Master's, Graduation, Class XII, and Class X.
• A Ph.D. is desirable but not essential if you have demonstrated strong domain knowledge.

For Associate Professor of Practice:

• You need a minimum of 10 years of relevant senior-level experience in industry or government.
• Same educational requirements as above — First-class in Master's, Graduation, Class XII, and Class X.

You should have the interest and potential to teach Long Duration Programmes (like the MBA) along with Management Development Programmes (MDP)/UBP as a full-time activity.

Age Limit

• There is no specific minimum age mentioned, but the appointment carries a retirement age of 65 years.

Selection Process

The Institute follows a two-step process for Professor of Practice / Associate Professor of Practice roles:

1. Application Screening: Your CV, qualifications, achievements, and proposed work plan are reviewed by the Institute.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates are called for an interview. Meeting the minimum qualifications and experience does not guarantee an interview call.

The Institute reserves the right not to fill any position and communicates only with shortlisted candidates.
