Indian Institute of Management Mumbai (IIM Mumbai) Government Relations Consultant Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Indian Institute of Management Mumbai (IIM Mumbai) has released EOI No. Admn/Rectt/2026/19 dated 17 June 2026 for a senior government outreach role. The consultant will support the institute's work with Ministries, Government Departments, PSUs, regulatory authorities, state governments, and national agencies. There is no written exam; the selection process uses experience, concept note, network strength, and interview performance.

The selected consultant will help IIM Mumbai find Government-sponsored training programmes, policy research projects, capacity-building assignments, advisory work, MoUs, and funded collaborations. The role also includes coordinating meetings, presentations, institutional visits, policy roundtables, and Government-industry-academia interactions. You should be comfortable preparing proposals, concept notes, EOI documents, and partnership papers while keeping proper records of outreach, meetings, proposals, collaborations, and outcomes. The role is meant to improve IIM Mumbai's visibility in Government programmes and national initiatives.

Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

• Qualification: You need an MBA/PGDM or Master's Degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Management, Economics, Law, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience: You need 10 to 15 years in Government relations, public affairs, policy advisory, institutional partnerships, public sector engagement, or strategic stakeholder management.
• Government exposure: You should have worked with Ministries, PSUs, Government agencies, regulatory bodies, or large public institutions.
• Network: You should have a strong network across Central Government, State Government, PSUs, and policy ecosystem stakeholders.

Preferred Background

• Higher education: Experience in higher education, public policy, consulting, industry associations, or Government projects is desirable.
• Communication: You need excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Policy tracking: You should be able to monitor Government schemes, policy changes, funding opportunities, and national initiatives relevant to IIM Mumbai.

Age Limit

• Retired Government officials: Maximum age is 63 years as on the application closing date.
• Other candidates: Maximum age is 50 years as on the application closing date.
• Reference date: The application closing date is 8 July 2026.
• Relaxation: The notification does not mention separate age relaxation beyond the retired-official age condition.

Salary

• Monthly salary: Rs. 1,50,000 + GST.
• Annual salary: Rs. 18,00,000 + GST.
• Retired Government officials: Pay will follow DoPT guidelines, calculated as Last Pay Drawn minus Pension.
• Tax and GST: GST is reimbursable against valid tax invoices, and TDS will be deducted as applicable.
• Benefits: Health insurance premium up to Rs. 10,000 per year for a family of up to four can be reimbursed.
• Not included: No PF, ESI, gratuity, HRA, or travel allowance is admissible.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

IIM Mumbai will evaluate candidates through a 100-mark selection matrix. The notification does not mention any written exam.

1. Relevant Experience and Track Record (30 marks): Your public affairs, Government relations, policy, and institutional partnership work will be reviewed.
2. Concept Note (25 marks): You must submit a strategy note for Government outreach and institutional engagement.
3. Network Strength (25 marks): Your Government, PSU, regulatory, policy, and public-sector network will be assessed.
4. Interview Performance (20 marks): Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by the selection committee.
5. Final Approval: Candidates scoring 60 or above out of 100 may be considered for empanelment, with final approval by the Director.

Renewal depends on annual review by a committee and at least 70% KPI achievement. Engagement beyond Year 3 will need a fresh EOI and selection process.
