Who Can Apply?

Assistant Professor (Grade-I) - Academic Pay Level 12 (Rs. 1,01,500 - Rs. 1,67,400/month):

• You need a Ph.D. or equivalent with a brilliant academic background in the appropriate area.
• You need a minimum of 3 years of teaching, research, or industrial experience (this does not include time spent doing your Ph.D.).

Assistant Professor (Grade-II) - Academic Pay Level 10 (Rs. 57,700 - Rs. 98,200/month):

• You need a Ph.D. or equivalent with a strong academic background.
• Experience is desirable but not compulsory for this grade — candidates who have completed their Ph.D. viva voce with a provisional award can also apply.

Reserved category candidates (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/PWD) get reservation benefits as per Government of India rules and must select their category and submit supporting certificates on the recruitment portal. Indian nationals working abroad, and OCI (Overseas Citizen of India)/Dual Citizenship holders, can also apply.

Age Limit

• The maximum age limit is 35 years for both Assistant Professor Grade-I and Grade-II posts.

Salary

• Assistant Professor (Grade-I): Academic Pay Level 12 — Rs. 1,01,500 to Rs. 1,67,400 per month, with an entry pay of Rs. 1,01,500.
• Assistant Professor (Grade-II): Academic Pay Level 10 — Rs. 57,700 to Rs. 98,200 per month, with an entry pay of Rs. 84,700.
• You will also get campus or leased accommodation, Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), telephone bill reimbursement, LTC, medical insurance, children's education allowance, New Pension Scheme contribution, and support for national and international conference travel.
• Grade-I faculty move up to Academic Pay Level 13A1 (Rs. 1,31,400 - Rs. 2,04,700) after completing 3 years of service, while still holding the Assistant Professor designation.
• Candidates with less than the required experience may initially be offered a contractual Assistant Professor Grade-II position and can later move to a regular Grade-I role once they meet the experience criteria.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

IIM Mumbai follows these stages to select faculty:

1. Shortlisting: Done by the Screening Committee based on your area of specialization, qualifications, experience, research output, and publication record.
2. Presentation: Shortlisted candidates are invited to give a presentation on their research work.
3. Personal Interview: Conducted either in physical mode at the IIM Mumbai campus, or online through MS Teams or WebEx, or offline in person with prior notice.

Preference is given to candidates with publications in peer-reviewed Web of Science Q1/Q2 indexed journals, especially those with a strong record in FT50 journals, first-author or communicating-author papers, and demonstrated use of AI, ML, Operations Research, or advanced statistical modelling in their research.
