The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), an autonomous body under the Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, has released advertisement number ICMR/Rectt/BMHRC/Faculty/01/2026-RPCell for 16 Faculty (Medical) posts at ICMR-BMHRC, Bhopal. The vacancies are 3 Professor, 4 Associate Professor and 9 Assistant Professor posts across specialties such as Cardiology, CTVS, Neurology, Urology, Radiology, Nephrology, GI Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Transfusion Medicine and Psychiatry. All posts are on a regular (permanent) basis with all-India transfer liability under the Council. You must submit a separate application for each post or specialisation.

4% of the total posts (1 of 16) are reserved on a horizontal basis for PwBD candidates with hearing or locomotor disability.

Who Can Apply?

Professor (Medical) — Level 13 (Rs. 1,23,100/month):

• Qualification: A recognised MBBS degree plus a Post-Graduate Degree (DM/MCh/MD) in the concerned specialty or super-specialty.
• Experience: 12 years' standing in the profession, of which at least 4 years should be as an Associate Professor in the concerned department.

Associate Professor (Medical) — Level 12 (Rs. 78,800/month):

• Qualification: MBBS plus a Post-Graduate Degree (DM/MCh/MD) in the concerned specialty or super-specialty.
• Experience: At least 5 years' experience as a Senior Resident, Tutor, Demonstrator, Registrar or Lecturer, of which 2 years should be as an Assistant Professor.

Assistant Professor (Medical) — Level 11 (Rs. 67,700/month):

• Qualification: MBBS plus a Post-Graduate Degree (DM/MCh/MD) in the concerned specialty or super-specialty.
• Experience: At least 3 years' teaching experience as a Senior Resident, Tutor, Demonstrator or Registrar after the first PG degree.

A DNB qualification is accepted if certified by NBE as equivalent to MD/MS or DM/MCh. Teaching experience as a General Duty Medical Officer or Medical Officer is not counted.

Age Limit

• Professor and Associate Professor: Not exceeding 50 years as on 14 July 2026.
• Assistant Professor: Not exceeding 40 years as on 14 July 2026.
• Age Relaxation: Available to Government servants and SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates as per Government of India rules.

Salary

• Professor: Level 13 of the pay matrix — Rs. 1,23,100 to Rs. 2,15,900 per month.
• Associate Professor: Level 12 of the pay matrix — Rs. 78,800 to Rs. 2,09,200 per month.
• Assistant Professor: Level 11 of the pay matrix — Rs. 67,700 to Rs. 2,08,700 per month.
• You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per Central Government rules.

Selection Process

There is no written exam. Selection is done by shortlisting and interview:

1. Shortlisting: All candidates who meet the minimum eligibility on age, qualification and experience are shortlisted. If too many apply, ICMR further shortlists based on higher experience or higher qualification.
2. Interview (Personal Discussion): Shortlisted candidates are called for a personal discussion before the selection committee.
3. Document Verification: Your certificates and experience proofs are checked before appointment.

If you work in a Central or State Government department, PSU or a government-funded research agency, you must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) at the personal discussion, stating you will be released within one month of appointment.
