IIFM Communication Officer Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM), Bhopal, an autonomous institute under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, wants a Communication Officer on contract for its project "TEEBAgriFood Activities in Assam". The job is about telling the story of the project — turning research on sustainable farming, ecosystem services and environmental sustainability into material that farmers, officials and the public can follow.

You will plan outreach, produce print and multimedia content, and keep project partners talking to each other. You work under the project's Team Leader at IIFM, with a lot of travel in Assam. Any master's degree works, so journalists, media graduates and development-sector communicators can all apply if they have two years of relevant experience.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project post only: This is a project-related contractual position with no link to IIFM's permanent establishment, and it gives you no claim to a regular job at the institute.
• Tenure: One year from your joining date, extendable based on your performance and the project's needs.
• Field travel: Expect extensive travel in Assam and adjoining regions, including remote areas, difficult terrain and poor weather.
• Immediate joining: The selected candidate must join right after selection.
• Travel costs: No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview. TA/DA covers only approved project field visits, and there are no other allowances on top of the consolidated pay.
• Experience that counts more: Communication work in environment, sustainability, agriculture, forestry or development settings is preferred.
• Design skills help: Knowing CorelDRAW, Adobe Creative Suite or similar tools, and being able to make visual and multimedia material, is a plus.

• Prepare communication plans for farmers, policymakers, government agencies, academia and local communities
• Create fact sheets, policy briefs, newsletters, reports and web content
• Produce videos, infographics, presentations and social media material
• Turn complex scientific, environmental and economic ideas into simple content for different audiences
• Manage the project's communication platforms, databases and digital repositories
• Organise outreach around workshops, conferences, training programmes and knowledge-sharing events
• Build working relationships with media organisations and journalists, and track how well outreach works
