AWEIL CEO/MD Recruitment 2026 (IRRPL)

The Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence is inviting applications for one Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director (CEO/MD) post at Indo-Russian Rifles Private Limited (IRRPL), New Delhi, a joint venture in which Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Limited (AWEIL) holds a 42.5% stake. The post is offered on deputation or contract basis, and your application must reach the department by 1500 hours on 11 September 2026. Selected candidates will draw a salary between Rs. 1,44,200 and Rs. 2,18,200 per month under Pay Level-14.

Department of Defence Production - IRRPL CEO/MD Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Indo-Russian Rifles Private Limited (IRRPL) manufactures AK-203 assault rifles for the Indian Armed Forces at its facility in Korwa, Amethi district, Uttar Pradesh. It is a joint venture between AWEIL (42.5% stake), Troop Comforts Limited (8%), Concern Kalashnikov (42%) and Rosoboronexport (7.5%), incorporated in 2019 under an Inter-Governmental Agreement. The Department of Defence Production has now opened this senior leadership role to eligible candidates from Central Government, the Armed Forces, All India Services, CPSEs, SPSEs and Private Sector companies. This is a Board-level appointment and only candidates already working at senior leadership positions are eligible — it is not an entry-level opening.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need to be an Engineering Graduate or a Post Graduate in any discipline.
• Essential Experience: You must have worked for at least 5 years as Chief Executive Officer in a manufacturing company, or held an equivalent higher position in the Indian Armed Forces.
• Desirable Experience: 25 years of professional experience in manufacturing or handling weapon systems is preferred.
• Employment Status: On the date of application and interview, you must be working in a regular capacity (not contractual or ad-hoc) in one of these categories:
  • Central Government, including the Armed Forces and All India Services
  • Defence/Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE)
  • State Public Sector Enterprise with annual turnover of Rs. 500 crore or more
  • Private Sector company with annual turnover of Rs. 500 crore or more
• Rank Requirement: Central Government/All India Service officers must hold a post at the level of Joint Secretary; Armed Forces officers must hold the rank of Major General (or equivalent in Navy/Air Force); CPSE/SPSE/Private Sector candidates must be working at Board level.

Tenure of Appointment:

• If a Central Government officer opts for deputation, the tenure is 3 years from the date of joining, extendable twice by 1 year each (up to age 60) with Board approval.
• For Private Individuals, CPSE/SPSE officers, or Central Government officers joining on immediate absorption, the tenure is 5 years from the date of joining or up to age 60, whichever comes first.

Age Limit

• You should be between 54 and 58 years old as on the date of issue of the advertisement (11 August 2026).

Salary

• The CEO/MD post carries a salary of Rs. 1,44,200 to Rs. 2,18,200 per month under Pay Level-14 (CDA scale, post 01.01.2016).
• Applicants from CPSEs/DPSUs should currently be drawing an equivalent or higher scale — including the IDA scale of Rs. 1,20,000 to Rs. 2,80,000 (post 01.01.2017).
• You will also get allowances as applicable to the post under Central Government/company rules.

Selection Process

The selection is handled by a Search-cum-Selection Committee (SCSC) in these stages:

1. Document Screening: The SCSC reviews applications forwarded through the proper channel, and can also identify and recommend other outstanding candidates who have not applied.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates are called for an interview. The committee may relax the eligibility or experience criteria for outstanding candidates if needed.

Before joining, you will need to give a written undertaking that you will accept the post if selected — applications without this undertaking will be rejected.

5. Private Sector applicants send their application directly to DDP, along with company annual reports, listing status proof and Board-level evidence.
