About This Job

The Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) has released Advertisement No. 01/2026 for the Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) 2025. You can apply for 78 vacancies across 11 prestigious state services including Assam Civil Service, Assam Police Service, Block Development Officer, District Transport Officer and more. APSC CCE 2025 Recruitment 2026 - 78 Posts

The Assam Public Service Commission conducts this Combined Competitive Examination to recruit officers for Group A and Group B services under the Government of Assam. The exam follows the Assam Public Services Combined Competitive Examination Rules, 1989 (as amended till 2023). This is one of the most sought-after state-level recruitment drives in Assam, opening doors to top administrative, police and revenue posts in the state. The Preliminary Examination is tentatively scheduled for 5 July 2026 (Sunday).

Category-wise split: Open Category - 42, OBC/MOBC - 14, SC - 8, STP - 7, STH - 7. A total of 14 posts are reserved for Women (RFW) and 3 posts are reserved for PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disabilities - Locomotor).

Who Can Apply?

  • Nationality: You must be an Indian citizen.
  • Educational Qualification: You must hold a Degree from any University incorporated by an Act of Central or State Legislature in India, or from an institution recognised as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956.
  • Language Requirement: You should be able to speak Assamese or another official / associate official language of the State, or any tribal language of Assam.
  • Employment Exchange: You must be registered with a District Employment Office in Assam.
  • Domicile: You must be an original inhabitant of Assam.
  • Small Family Norms: You need to submit a declaration in Form-A regarding Small Family Norms at the time of applying.

Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 21 years
  • Maximum Age: 38 years
  • Age Reference Date: 1 January 2025
  • Your age is calculated from the date of birth shown on your Matriculation / HSLC / HSSLC Admit Card, Pass Certificate or Marksheet. No other document is accepted.

Age Relaxation (upper limit):

  • SC / STP / STH: 5 years (up to 43 years)
  • OBC / MOBC: 3 years (up to 41 years)
  • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): 10 years, irrespective of category
  • Ex-Servicemen: Not applicable (no post is reserved for this category)

Salary

The salary depends on the post you qualify for. Both pay bands follow the Assam State Government pay structure.

  • Group A Posts (Sl. 1 to 6): Pay Band-4, Rs 30,000 - Rs 1,10,000 with Grade Pay Rs 13,300 (ACS Jr. Grade & APS Jr. Grade) or Rs 12,700 (DTO, Supdt. of Excise, Asst. Registrar of Cooperative Societies, AUAS EO Jr. Gr. II)
  • Group B Posts (Sl. 7 to 11): Pay Band-3, Rs 22,000 - Rs 97,000 with Grade Pay Rs 9,400 (Inspector of Labour, Inspector of Excise, Assistant Employment Officer, Sub-Registrar, Research Assistant)
  • You will also get Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance and other allowances as per Assam Government rules.

Application Fee

The fee includes a processing charge of Rs 47.20 levied by CSC-SPV, the MeitY-approved agency handling APSC's online recruitment portal.

  • General: Rs 250 + Rs 47.20 = Rs 297.20
  • OBC / MOBC: Rs 150 + Rs 47.20 = Rs 197.20
  • SC / ST: No application fee - only Rs 47.20 processing charge
  • BPL candidates (all categories): No application fee - only Rs 47.20
  • PwBD: No application fee - only Rs 47.20
  • Women candidates (all categories): No application fee - only Rs 47.20 (exempted to promote gender balance)

Fee once paid will not be refunded. Applications with unpaid fees will be rejected.

Selection Process

Selection is a three-stage process conducted under the Assam Public Services CCE Rules, 1989.

  1. Preliminary Examination (Screening): Two objective-type papers - General Studies I (200 marks) and General Studies II (200 marks, qualifying, 33% min). Each paper is 2 hours long. There is negative marking of 1/4 mark for each wrong answer. Prelims marks are not counted in the final merit list.
  2. Main Examination (Written): Six conventional essay-type papers totalling 1500 marks. Paper 1 is Essay (250 marks, 3 hours) and Papers 2 to 6 are General Studies (250 marks each, 3 hours each). You can write in English or Assamese. Only candidates who clear Prelims are called for Mains, at 11-12 times the vacancies.
  3. Interview / Personality Test: Carries 180 marks. Only those who qualify the Mains written test are called, in the ratio of 1:3 (three candidates per vacancy).

Grand total marks: 1680. Final allotment to services is based on Merit cum Preference and reservation rules. The Preliminary Examination is tentatively scheduled for 5 July 2026 (Sunday). The Main Examination will be held in Guwahati Centre only.

How to Apply

  2. Click on 'Register Here' and complete the One Time Registration (OTR) using a valid email ID and mobile number.
  3. Log in and fill the application form carefully. All mandatory fields are marked with an asterisk (*).
  4. Upload the required documents in PDF format: Age proof (Class 10/12 certificate), Degree certificate with all semester marksheets, Caste/Category certificate, PwBD certificate, BPL certificate, Employment Exchange Registration, PRC / Caste certificate as proof of original inhabitant of Assam, Small Family Norms declaration in Form-A.
  5. Upload a recent photograph (50-200 KB) and signature (50-200 KB). File size limit: 4 MB, scanned at 200 dpi in greyscale.
  6. Preview the application, tick the declaration checkbox and click Proceed to Pay.
  7. Pay the prescribed fee online. Fee once paid will not be refunded.
  8. Submit the final application and download the confirmation. No edits are allowed after final submission.

Important: Submit only one application. If you submit multiple, only the last one will be considered, and fees from earlier submissions will not be adjusted.

Responsibilities

  • Handle general administration, revenue, law & order and development work in Assam state services as per your allotted cadre (ACS, APS, BDO, DTO, etc.).
  • Implement state and central government schemes at district and block levels and monitor field execution.
  • Maintain public order, enforce laws and supervise police work if posted to the Assam Police Service (Jr. Grade).
  • Manage transport regulation, issue driving licences, vehicle registrations and collect motor vehicle taxes as District Transport Officer.
  • Enforce excise laws, monitor liquor shops, check illicit distillation and collect excise revenue as Superintendent or Inspector of Excise.
  • Register land and property documents, maintain records and execute registration laws as Sub-Registrar.
  • Inspect workplaces, enforce labour laws, resolve industrial disputes and protect worker rights as Inspector of Labour.
  • Follow all Assam government rules, conduct enquiries, prepare reports and attend court proceedings as required by your posting.

Exam Pattern

The APSC CCE 2025 has three stages: Preliminary Examination, Main Examination and Interview / Personality Test.

Preliminary Examination (Objective)

  • Paper I - General Studies I: 200 marks, 2 hours, objective multiple choice
  • Paper II - General Studies II: 200 marks, 2 hours, objective multiple choice (qualifying paper, minimum 33%)
  • Total Prelims Marks: 400
  • Negative Marking: 1/4 mark deducted for each wrong answer. Multiple answers to a question are treated as wrong even if one is correct.
  • Prelims marks are not counted in the final merit list - Prelims is only a screening test.

Main Examination (Written)

  • Paper 1 - Essay: 250 marks, 3 hours
  • Papers 2 to 6 - General Studies: 250 marks each, 3 hours each (Total 1250 marks)
  • Total Mains Written: 1500 marks
  • You can write your answer papers in English or Assamese.
  • Candidates admitted to Mains are 11 to 12 times the number of vacancies notified.

Interview / Personality Test

  • Marks: 180
  • Called in the ratio of 1:3 (three candidates per vacancy) from the Mains merit list.
  • Interview marks are added to Mains Written marks for the final ranking.

Grand Total: 1680 marks. Final allotment follows Merit cum Preference and reservation rules.

APSC CCE has three stages: (1) Preliminary Exam with 2 objective papers of 200 marks each (GS-I counted, GS-II qualifying at 33%, 1/4 negative marking); (2) Main Examination with 6 descriptive papers totalling 1500 marks (Essay + 5 GS papers); and (3) Interview / Personality Test of 180 marks. Final ranking is based on Mains + Interview (1680 total). The tentative Prelims date is 5 July 2026.
