HPPSC is hiring 243 Constables (Female) for the Himachal Pradesh Police Department. Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) has released Advertisement No. 58/7-2026 for 243 Constable (Female) Class-III (Non-Gazetted) posts in the Himachal Pradesh Police Department, under the Himachal Pradesh Police Department (Recruitment of Constables) Rules, 2024. The vacancies are spread across General, SC, ST, OBC and EWS categories, and further include quotas for Ward of Freedom Fighters (WFF), Ward of Ex-Servicemen, Below Poverty Line (BPL) candidates and Home Guards. This is a women-only recruitment drive — only female candidates can apply, and reservation benefits are available only to bonafide residents of Himachal Pradesh. Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) are not eligible for these posts.

• General (UR): 101 posts (includes 60 UR, 3 WFF, 22 Ward of Ex-Servicemen, 16 Home Guards)

• ST: 12 posts (includes 5 UR, 3 BPL, 2 Ward of Ex-Servicemen, 2 Home Guards)
• OBC: 48 posts (includes 24 UR, 6 WFF, 7 BPL, 5 Ward of Ex-Servicemen, 6 Home Guards)
• EWS: 24 posts (includes 20 UR, 4 Home Guards)

Note: 11 posts are backlog vacancies — 1 in UR-WFF, 5 in SC-WFF and 5 in OBC-WFF.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must have passed Matriculation and +2 (10+2) from an institution/school/board located within Himachal Pradesh. (This condition does not apply to Bonafide Himachalis who studied outside the state.)
• Gender: Only female candidates can apply for these posts.
• Domicile: Reservation benefits (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/WFF/Ward of Ex-Servicemen/Home Guard) are available only to bonafide residents of Himachal Pradesh.
• PwBD: Persons with Benchmark Disabilities are not eligible for this examination.

Age Limit

• General / EWS / Ward of Ex-Servicemen: 18 to 25 years
• SC / ST / SC-ST Ward of Ex-Servicemen / Gorkhas: 18 to 27 years
• OBC / OBC Ward of Ex-Servicemen: 18 to 27 years
• Home Guard (General/OBC/EWS): 20 to 28 years
• Home Guard (SC/ST/Gorkhas): 20 to 28 years
• Age is calculated as on 1 January 2026.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a salary of Rs. 20,200 to Rs. 64,000 per month under Pay Band Level-3 in the Himachal Pradesh Police Department.
• You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per Himachal Pradesh government rules.

Physical Standards

Minimum Height (Female Candidates):

• General / EWS / Ward of Ex-Servicemen: 5 feet 2 inches
• SC / ST / SC-ST Ward of Ex-Servicemen / Gorkhas: 5 feet 0 inches
• OBC / OBC Ward of Ex-Servicemen: 5 feet 2 inches
• Home Guard (General/OBC/EWS): 5 feet 2 inches
• Home Guard (SC/ST/Gorkhas): 5 feet 0 inches

Physical Efficiency Test (PET) — Qualifying Only:

• 800 Metres Race: 3 minutes 45 seconds
• High Jump: Minimum 1.10 metres (maximum 3 attempts)
• 100 Metres Race: 17 seconds
• Broad Jump: 3 metres (maximum 3 attempts)

Height marks (0 to 6 marks) are awarded based on your actual height in the Physical Standard Test — taller candidates score higher, up to 6 marks for 5'8" and above.

Application Fee

• All categories (uniform fee): Rs. 600
• Payment mode: Online via Debit Card / Credit Card / UPI.
• Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in these stages:

1. Physical Test (PST + PET): Conducted by the Himachal Pradesh Police Department. You get marks for height (up to 6 marks) and must qualify the PET (qualifying only, no marks).
2. Written Test: Offline objective-type exam of 90 questions for 90 marks in 2 hours, based on +2 standard syllabus. The paper is bilingual (English and Hindi). Negative marking of 0.25 marks per wrong answer.
3. Evaluation & Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates (based on zone of consideration) get their documents checked, and NCC certificate marks (up to 4 marks) are awarded.
4. Medical Examination: Conducted by the Himachal Pradesh Police Department.

Final Merit: Written Test (90 marks) + Height (6 marks) + NCC Certificate (4 marks) = 100 marks total.

3. Register and create your profile (if not already registered).

6. Upload the required documents.
7. Pay the Rs. 600 fee online.
