All India Institute of Medical Sciences Kalyani (AIIMS Kalyani) has released Advertisement No. 57/26-27/MICRO/E-10412/177 for a consultant assignment under its DHR/ICMR-supported VRDL network. The work is linked to NABL and ISO 15189 quality systems, so it is meant for experienced medical laboratory quality professionals, not firms or agencies. Only an individual consultant can apply, and the selected person must personally handle the assignment.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need an MD or Ph.D. in Medical Microbiology, Virology, Viral Immunology, Molecular Biology, or a relevant discipline.
• Related doctoral fields: A closely related doctoral qualification may be considered only when your thesis or work experience clearly connects with medical virology, viral diagnostics, medical microbiology, or molecular diagnostics.
• NABL leadership: You must have led an NABL-accredited medical testing laboratory as Laboratory Director, Technical Head, or an equivalent quality leader.
• Consultancy experience: You need documented experience as an NABL or ISO 15189 consultant in at least 3 assignments involving accreditation, renewal, surveillance assessment, or scope extension.
• Training: You must have completed a recognised ISO 15189:2022 training course.
• Government VRDL experience: You need at least 2 years of experience as a Microbiologist, Molecular Biologist, or equivalent technical expert in a government viral diagnostic laboratory.

Desirable Experience

• Accredited laboratory work: Current or past work as Laboratory Director or Technical Head in an NABL-accredited laboratory with more than two accredited disciplines will help.
• Training experience: AIIMS Kalyani prefers consultants who have worked as faculty or resource persons for ISO 15189:2022 training courses.
• VRDL support: Prior consultancy support to an ICMR-VRDL or DHR-supported viral diagnostic laboratory is a strong fit for this assignment.
• Testing scope: Experience in molecular virology, serology, infectious disease diagnostics, or similar medical laboratory disciplines is preferred.

Consultancy Fee

• The total payable amount will not exceed Rs. 1,50,000 for the complete assignment.
• This amount includes professional charges, travel, incidental expenses, and applicable taxes, subject to statutory deductions or TDS.
• No separate TA, DA, accommodation, local conveyance, secretarial charges, or out-of-pocket expenses will be paid unless AIIMS Kalyani approves it in writing before the expense.
• Payment will be released only after the committee certifies milestone-wise deliverables.

Key Deliverables

• Milestone 1: Gap assessment report, proposed accreditation scope, test list, roadmap, and document master plan within 15 days of engagement.
• Milestone 2: Core QMS and technical documentation, records, forms, equipment/calibration records, IQC/EQA documents, biosafety papers, and initial staff training within 45 days.
• Milestone 3: Internal audit support, management review support, corrective action records, readiness review, and NABL application support within 75 days, subject to laboratory readiness.
• Milestone 4: NABL assessment support, reply to observations, non-conformity closure, and accreditation or acceptance communication support.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is based on technical merit, suitability, financial acceptance, and approval by the competent authority. AIIMS Kalyani may also call shortlisted applicants for a discussion, presentation, or interview if needed.

1. Application Scrutiny: The committee will check whether all essential criteria and documents are present.
2. Technical Evaluation: Qualifications, NABL leadership, ISO 15189 work, VRDL experience, QMS documentation skills, and the technical proposal will be compared.
3. Discussion or Interview: Shortlisted applicants may be called for interaction or presentation, and no TA/DA will be paid.
4. Financial Quote Review: The financial quote will be considered only for technically responsive applicants.
5. Final Approval: The committee recommendation will go to the competent authority for final approval.
