Applicants claiming a computer qualification should enter it correctly in OJAS and produce acceptable evidence when asked. If you do not hold the prescribed certificate at application stage, the notice allows application subject to passing the required basic-computer-knowledge test before appointment under the stated rules.

Age Limit

  • Minimum age: 18 years
  • Maximum age: 33 years
  • Age is calculated on 15 September 2026, the online application closing date.
  • General women and reserved-category men: 5 years of upper-age relaxation.
  • Reserved-category women: 10 years of upper-age relaxation.
  • PwD applicants: Relaxation ranges from 5 to 15 years according to category and gender.
  • Ex-servicemen: Relaxation applies under Gujarat Government rules.

The combined relaxed age normally cannot exceed 45 years. Separate provisions in the notice apply to eligible BMC employees, with an absolute upper limit of 58 years.

Salary

Movement to the regular pay matrix is subject to completion of the fixed-pay period and satisfactory service under municipal rules. The notification does not separately itemize allowances during the initial fixed-pay period.

Selection Process

The BMC Selection Committee may conduct a competitive written examination, oral test or the selection method it decides, depending on the number of applications. Applicants attend at their own expense.

  1. Online Application Screening: OJAS details, age, qualification, computer knowledge, language and reservation claims are checked.
  2. Written or Oral Test: BMC decides the test arrangement and medium. The written paper is normally aligned with the qualification required for the post; other than English questions, the medium may be Gujarati.
  3. Sports Weightage: Eligible applicants with the prescribed representation certificate in notified sports may receive an additional 5% of first-stage written-test marks.
  4. Document Verification: Original qualification, category, fee and other supporting certificates are checked before appointment.
  5. Final Selection: Appointment is subject to eligibility, verification and the final decision of the BMC Selection Committee.

The waiting-list validity follows the period described in the notice. BMC may change the number of posts, and the Commissioner's interpretation of the recruitment conditions is final.
