The Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE), through its Forest Research Institute (FRI) in Dehradun, is hiring 1 Project Associate for a genetics research project. ICFRE FRI Project Associate Walk-In Interview 2026 - 1 Post

Forest Research Institute (FRI), Dehradun, under the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE), has invited candidates for a walk-in interview to fill 1 Project Associate position under an IFFCO-funded genetic improvement research project led by Dr. Ashok Kumar. The role focuses on developing improved forestry genotypes and nursery techniques and on collecting field data for species enriched with active IFFCO constituents. There is no written exam -- selection happens directly through a walk-in interview at FRI's Board Room. Recent M.Sc. Forestry graduates who are comfortable travelling to remote field locations should attend.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need an M.Sc. in Forestry.
• Experience: Hands-on experience with forestry genotypes, nursery techniques and related field research is expected.
• Willingness to travel: You must be ready to travel and stay in difficult terrain and remote locations to carry out field observation and sample collection.
• Candidates who have already completed 4 years as SRF/SPF/JRF/JPF are not eligible for this fellowship. Ph.D. period and teaching experience will not be counted as research experience. If you are currently employed elsewhere, you must bring a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your employer.

Age Limit

• Upper age limit is 35 years as on 1 June 2026.
• Age Relaxation: SC/ST, OBC, Women and Persons with Disabilities get up to 5 years relaxation.

Salary

• You will get a fixed monthly fellowship of Rs. 25,000.
• No other allowances are mentioned in the notification.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

ICFRE will select the candidate directly through a walk-in interview:

1. Registration: Report to the venue between 9:00 AM and 10:15 AM on the interview date.
2. Document Check: Bring your bio-data, a recent passport-size photo, and self-attested copies of all educational certificates.
3. Walk-In Interview: Attend the interview at the Board Room, FRI Main Building.

No separate call letter will be issued, and no TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview. Awarding the fellowship does not guarantee any subsequent job at ICFRE or its institutes.
