CAU Project Associate and Technical Assistant Recruitment 2026: Overview

Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal is engaging a Project Associate-I and a Technical Assistant at its College of Community Science in Tura. Both roles support the DST project on documenting Meghalaya's tribal craft and culture and exploring contemporary design interventions. This is field-connected research work, so it suits candidates who are comfortable combining academic documentation with practical interaction in craft communities. The appointments are project-based rather than regular university posts. The project brings together scientific documentation, visual records and design work, so your contribution may move between the field, the computer and group training activity.

Posts and Disciplines

  • Project Associate-I: a postgraduate research role covering basic science, natural science, agriculture or an allied subject, with digital design ability treated as an advantage.
  • Technical Assistant: a graduate support role for field surveys, artisan contact, visual documentation, product development and training activity.

Post-wise Duties

Project Associate-I

You will help plan the tribal craft documentation, organise research material and connect field findings with contemporary design ideas. The role may also involve preparing digital records, working with images and design files, and helping the project team turn observations into usable research outputs. Because the notification values computer, CAD, Photoshop and 3D-software ability, you should be ready to support both research organisation and the visual side of the intervention.

Technical Assistant

You will support field surveys and artisan interaction, keep photographs and video records organised, and assist with documentation at the project site. You may also help during product-development work and training sessions, making this a practical role with regular coordination responsibilities. Careful file naming, consent-aware visual documentation and reliable follow-up with the field team will help keep the project's evidence usable.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Tenure: the initial engagement is for one year or until the project ends, whichever comes first. An extension for another year depends on performance, available funds and project need.
  • Nature of appointment: both positions are purely temporary and end with the project; they do not create a claim to a regular CAU post.
  • Travel: the university will not pay TA or DA for attending the walk-in interview, so plan your journey and stay at your own cost.
  • Service rules: CAU rules and the funding agency's guidelines will govern the engagement as amended from time to time.

Application Submission Notes

This is a walk-in selection at the College of Community Science, CAU, Sangsanggre, Tura, with reporting for the interview at 11 a.m. Bring your original bio-data on plain paper along with two passport-size photographs. Original certificates and attested copies should cover your qualifications and experience; if you are already employed, also carry a no-objection certificate from your last employer. Arrange the papers in a clear order so the interview team can check your academic record, relevant work and employment status without delay.

Responsibilities

  • Document tribal craft practices and cultural material gathered through the project
  • Conduct field surveys and coordinate respectfully with artisan communities
  • Organise research notes, photographs, videos, and supporting records
  • Assist with contemporary design and product-development activities
  • Prepare digital material using suitable computer and design tools
  • Support demonstrations, training sessions, and project reporting
