Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), a grant-in-aid institute under the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, has released Advt. No. VAR/ACA/25/2026 for two specialised fellowship programs at Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Cancer Centre (HBCH & MPMMCC), Varanasi. Both fellowships are for the August 2026 session, starting from 1 August 2026, and are tenured, non-permanent positions. Doctors with an MD/DNB in Transfusion Medicine who want to specialise further in apheresis or in oncology blood management should apply. A separate application must be submitted for each post you are interested in.

Who Can Apply?

For 2 Year Fellowship in Transfusion & Apheresis Sciences:

  • Qualification: You need an M.D./D.N.B. in Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion/Transfusion Medicine, or an equivalent postgraduate degree recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC).

For 1 Year Fellowship in Patient Blood Management in Oncology:

  • Qualification: You need an M.D./D.N.B. in Immunohematology & Blood Transfusion, or an equivalent degree recognized by NMC.
  • All UG and PG degrees must be recognized by the NMC, and every selected fellow must register with the Uttar Pradesh Medical Council.
  • If you are currently employed in a government, autonomous, or semi-government organization, you must get a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your employer and upload it with your application. Bring the original NOC when you appear for the MCQ test or interview.
  • If your final year result is still awaited, you can still apply — but you must show proof of the qualifying degree on the day of the MCQ test or interview.

Age Limit

  • You should be under 40 years old, with age and experience reckoned as on 15 July 2026.
  • Age Relaxation: SC/ST candidates get 5 years, OBC candidates get 3 years, and Persons with Disabilities get 10 years of relaxation.

Salary

  • The 2-Year Fellowship pays Rs. 1,33,623 per month (Gross Pay) in the first year and Rs. 1,36,269 per month (Gross Pay) in the second year.
  • The 1-Year Fellowship pays a consolidated Rs. 1,33,623 per month (Gross Pay).
  • Shared accommodation may be provided subject to availability, with hostel charges deducted from your monthly pay.
  • A security/caution deposit of Rs. 1,33,623 is required for the 1-year fellowship.

Selection Process

Your selection depends on how many people apply for each post:

  1. MCQ Test (Conditional): Held only if the number of applicants is more than 3 times the number of posts advertised. If fewer people apply than the number of vacancies, this test is skipped altogether.
  2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates are called for a final interview at HBCH/MPMMCC, Varanasi.
  3. Document Verification: You must submit proof of date of birth, qualifications, experience, caste, disability certificate and NOC (where applicable).

No TA/DA (Travel Allowance/Dearness Allowance) is paid for appearing in the MCQ test or interview.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in blood component preparation, apheresis procedures, and transfusion medicine services
  • Support patient blood management protocols for oncology patients
  • Participate in clinical rounds and case discussions under senior faculty supervision
  • Maintain accurate records of blood transfusion requests, utilization, and adverse reactions
  • Assist with training residents, nurses, and paramedical staff on transfusion practices
  • Follow NMC and blood bank regulatory guidelines during all procedures
  • Support ongoing research projects and audits in transfusion medicine
  • Attend departmental training programs and workshops as required
