TISS TANDA Fellow Field Worker Recruitment 2026: Overview

Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) is recruiting a Fellow-Field Worker for the Youth Development Programme at TANDA, a field action project of its Centre for Criminology and Justice, School of Social Work. The programme works with Nomadic and De-Notified Tribe communities in Amravati district, Maharashtra, combining training with community-level work.

The project fellowship centres on constitutional awareness, community leadership and locally organised action. Its wider programme aims to develop community-led organisations and action research, with training and mentoring to help the fellow work within their own or allied communities.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Initial engagement: Your first appointment is for three months. Further engagement depends on your performance and what the project needs, with extension possible up to two years.
  • Possible third year: TISS may extend the fellowship into a third year for organisational development work. This depends on performance and project requirements, and it carries a different stipend arrangement.
  • Training and field placement: The programme combines preparation in rights-based work with field engagement in selected villages. Its support includes training, mentoring and help with building community organisations.
  • Local preference: The notice gives preference to applicants living in Amravati district. The community requirement stated in the eligibility section remains central to this programme.
  • Notice wording: The detailed programme criteria restrict participation to NT-DNT communities. A separate general clause calls the post unreserved, so you should not read that general wording as removing the programme-specific restriction.
  • Appointment discretion: TISS may leave the opening unfilled or invite someone who did not apply through the stated process. It may also relax working conditions based on experience.
  • Travel costs: TISS will not pay travel or daily allowance for attending the interview. Keep this in mind if you are asked to attend in person.
  • Conduct and corrections: Canvassing can disqualify you. TISS may correct, withdraw or cancel recruitment communications if it finds an error, including after an appointment order.
  • Joining: If selected, you must join within 10 days of receiving the selection intimation.

Application Submission Notes

Send your application email to tandatissjobs@gmail.com and complete the Google Form named in the notice. Both are part of the application route; the notice warns that applicants who leave out the form may not be considered.

You can contact tandatissjobs@gmail.com if you have a technical problem with the form. TISS will use email and/or phone to communicate the next arrangements, including whether your attendance will be online or in person.

Responsibilities

  • Work with NT-DNT communities in the selected villages
  • Apply constitutional literacy training to community-level work
  • Support community mobilisation and local leadership
  • Help develop community-led organisations
  • Support campaigns on health, rights and citizenship entitlements
  • Use the programme training to support access to legal redress
