TISS RTSA Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026: Overview
Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) is adding Assistant Professors to the Ratan Tata School of Analytics (RTSA) at its Mumbai Campus. The school brings quantitative methods together with management, sustainability and field-based social-science learning, so these roles are broader than conventional classroom-only teaching. The appointments are contractual and are intended to support the school's growing academic programmes.
RTSA works across undergraduate, postgraduate and executive learning in analytics. Faculty members are expected to connect theory with practical datasets, field questions and decision-making problems rather than teach each subject in isolation. Teaching, student supervision, research and academic coordination are therefore all part of the assignment.
Posts and Disciplines
- Business Administration and allied subjects: suited to a management scholar who can connect organisational, financial or strategic thinking with analytics-led decision making.
- Mathematics, Statistics and allied disciplines: suited to a quantitative scholar who can build strong foundations for data analysis, modelling and research design across the school's programmes.
Post-wise Duties
Assistant Professor in Business Administration
You will teach management-facing courses, guide learners in applying analytics to organisational questions and support interdisciplinary student projects. You may also help design course material, assess written and practical work, supervise field assignments and contribute to the school's academic administration.
Assistant Professor in Mathematics or Statistics
You will teach quantitative foundations, help students work confidently with mathematical and statistical methods and supervise data-led projects and dissertations. The role also involves course planning, assessment, research activity and collaboration with faculty from management and social-science backgrounds.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Initial tenure: The appointment begins with a one-year contract. Any continuation depends on performance and the institute's need.
- Employment status: A contract appointment does not create a right to permanent absorption at TISS.
- Post category: The openings are marked unreserved, while candidates from reserved categories may still apply.
- Shortlisting: Holding the minimum academic credentials does not by itself guarantee an interview call; TISS may use higher qualifications, experience and academic work to shortlist.
- Serving applicants: Candidates already employed must produce a No Objection Certificate from their employer when called for the interview.
- Document checks: Shortlisted applicants may be asked for self-attested qualification and experience records, while originals are checked for the selected candidate at appointment.
- Travel and joining: TISS does not pay TA or DA for the selection process, and the selected person is expected to join promptly after receiving the selection communication.
- Institute discretion: TISS may relax conditions in suitable cases, limit the shortlist, leave a post unfilled or correct and withdraw a communication if an error is detected.
Responsibilities
- Teach courses in the assigned Business Administration or Mathematics and Statistics discipline

- Support curriculum planning and interdisciplinary teaching across RTSA programmes
- Handle academic coordination and student mentoring assigned by the school
