Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), a grant-in-aid deemed university under the Ministry of Education, is engaging retired government personnel as Consultants for its Recruitment Cell and Security Section. These are full-time contractual assignments built around practical public-service experience. The institute is looking for professionals who can step into operational work quickly, whether that means keeping staff recruitment moving or protecting a busy residential and academic campus.

Post-wise Duties

Consultant - Recruitment Cell

You will help the Deputy Registrar, Assistant Registrar and Project Cell organise recruitment records, position advertisements, interview material and related HR work. The role needs careful documentation and steady coordination so faculty and staff hiring can progress without avoidable gaps.

Consultant - Security

You will supervise the day-to-day security administration, deploy guards, regulate people, vehicles and materials, and respond to trespass, theft, fire or accidents. You will also oversee security equipment, campus rounds, incident reports, police liaison and monitoring of fire-fighting and water-supply systems.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: Engagement begins for one year. The consultancy is temporary and does not give a right to absorption or regularisation at TISS.
• Full-time commitment: Consultants follow the institute's normal weekday hours and may need to stay later for urgent, time-bound work. They cannot take another assignment with a Central Government agency during the engagement.
• Pension: A retired government official continues to draw pension and dearness relief; this consultancy is not treated as re-employment.
• Leave: Earned leave accrues at 1.5 days for each completed month, but unused leave cannot be carried beyond one calendar year.
• Confidentiality: Records and information handled during the assignment cannot be published or shared with a third party. Everything belonging to the assignment must be returned before the contract ends and final payment is released.
• Conflict of interest: You cannot advise or represent anyone in a matter that works against the institute's interest.
• Termination: The notice contains short-notice termination and resignation provisions. Read the contract carefully because the advertisement refers to both 15-day and one-month notice arrangements.
• Shortlisting: Meeting the minimum conditions does not guarantee a personal-interaction call, and TISS may maintain a waiting list based on interview performance.
