SCTIMST Senior Project Engineer Recruitment 2026: Overview

Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), an Institution of National Importance under the Department of Science and Technology, is hiring a Senior Project Engineer at its Biomedical Technology Wing in Poojappura, Thiruvananthapuram. The post belongs to a BIRAC-funded project (P.8285) that is building a new process technology for gravity casting of total knee replacement implants. Selection is through a walk-in interview, so there is no online form; you report at the venue with your papers.

This is a hands-on mechanical engineering role. You will work on structural design, casting simulation, and the jigs and fixtures used to finish implants, and you will also deal with vendors and technical documents. Engineers with a Master's in Production Engineering or Machine Design, or experience in CAD modelling and mould-flow analysis, will have an edge.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project tenure: The post runs initially up to 31 March 2027 and is likely to be extended up to 2 November 2027, in line with the project.
• Screening test: If many candidates turn up, a qualifying written test may be held first; only those who clear it go on to the interview, and test marks do not count in the final ranking.
• Experience rule: Experience counts only if you gained it after earning the essential qualification.
• Working candidates: If you are already employed, bring a No Objection Certificate from your current employer to the interview.
• No travel allowance: No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.
• Reservation: The existing post is unreserved (UR).
