SCTIMST Research Associate I Recruitment 2026: Overview

Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), an Institution of National Importance under the Department of Science and Technology, is hiring a Research Associate I at its Biomedical Technology (BMT) Wing in Poojappura, Thiruvananthapuram. The post sits under the DBT-funded project P.8264, "Centre of Excellence for Minimally Invasive Cardiovascular Devices".

This is a project-based contract role, not a permanent institute post. The work is hands-on medical device engineering — you will take cardiovascular devices from computer design and simulation through prototyping, lab and animal testing, and on to technology transfer. It suits engineers who already have an SCI-indexed research paper and some R&D, industry or teaching experience in product design, FEA or CFD.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The first engagement is for 6 months and is likely to be extended up to 13 June 2029, in line with the project's life.
• Reservation order: The single vacancy is earmarked for OBC. If no eligible OBC candidate is found, EWS candidates will be considered, and after them the unreserved (UR) category.
• Experience counting: Only experience gained after you earned the essential qualification counts.
• Ph.D route: If you hold a Ph.D, the three-year experience condition does not apply to you.
• Category certificates: OBC applicants need a valid Non-Creamy Layer certificate and EWS applicants an Income and Asset certificate, both in the Central Government format and issued by a Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tahsildar.
• Interview travel: No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.
