Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract status: The notice describes a consultancy arrangement and says it does not create an employer-employee relationship or a right to regular appointment. You must sign the prescribed agreement before joining, and SAIL's authorised representative must countersign it.
• Tenure: The initial term can last up to three years. SAIL may extend it by up to two further years, one year at a time, based on satisfactory performance and its requirements. Total engagement cannot exceed five years.
• Annual review: Your performance is reviewed each year. If no extension is communicated within the agreed term, the contract ends automatically on its final day.
• Working schedule: The usual schedule is eight and a half hours a day, six days a week, according to the assigned shift. Work needs may call for extra hours without additional payment.
• Leave: You earn 1.5 days for each completed month, up to 18 days in a year. Unused leave does not carry into the next calendar year, and absence needs prior approval.
• Ending the contract: During the first six months, either side can end the arrangement with seven days' notice. After that, one month's notice or the specified payment in its place normally applies. Unapproved continuous absence can also lead to termination.
• Confidentiality: You cannot publish or share material received or created during the engagement without prior permission. This obligation continues after the contract ends, and intellectual property developed within the contract belongs to SAIL.
• Joining: Selected applicants must report and sign the contract within the maximum joining period of 30 days. The notice does not allow a further extension.
• Travel for interview: Reimbursement follows the shortest-route AC-2 tier rail entitlement when the journey exceeds 30 kilometres each way. Keep your journey proof; higher-class travel is reimbursed only up to the permitted amount.
• Company discretion: SAIL can revise or cancel the engagement process. A level-wise merit panel remains valid for six months to address non-joining or early exits.
