NCRTC Group General Manager Design (Underground) Recruitment 2026: Overview

National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), a joint venture of the Government of India and the states of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, wants a senior engineer to lead the design of its underground structures. NCRTC builds and runs the Namo Bharat regional rail service. The Delhi-Meerut corridor is now fully open, and the next two corridors — Delhi-Gurugram-SNB-Alwar and Delhi-Panipat-Karnal — are in the pipeline.

The opening comes under Vacancy Notice No. 44/2026 and is meant for officers already serving in government, not for fresh or private-sector applicants. You must be working in a regular post with a government body, a CPSE or a state PSE to be considered.

Posts and Disciplines

• Group General Manager/ Design (Underground) — Deputation (Post Code 01): for officers of Central or State Government, CPSEs or PSUs who will serve NCRTC for a fixed term and then go back to their parent cadre. Pay and allowances follow the DoPT deputation rules.
• Group General Manager/ Design (Underground) — Immediate Absorption (Post Code 02): for officers ready to leave their parent organisation and become regular NCRTC employees on the industrial DA pattern.

Both codes are for the same single position. The work centres on tunnels built by TBM and NATM, underground stations, cut-and-cover sections, cross passages and shafts, so the notice looks for long hands-on design experience on metro or railway underground works.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Deputation term: The normal deputation term applies, but it will never go beyond five years.
• Service bond (absorption): Absorbed officers sign a bond of Rs. 5 lakh plus GST, and training cost if any, to serve NCRTC for at least three years.
• Probation: After joining on absorption, you serve a probation period as per corporation policy.
• Medical: Absorbed officers skip the pre-appointment medical check-up, but you still need to be physically and medically fit.
• Experience weightage: If your career mixes private and government jobs, private-sector years count at 80% and government years at 100%. Teaching or freelance work does not count at all.
• Pay-scale equivalence: NCRTC compares the minimum basic pay of your current scale with its own scale to decide whether you hold an equivalent grade.
• Officers already on deputation: Your eligibility is judged on your substantive grade in your parent organisation.
• Posting: You may be posted to any NCRTC office, project unit, subsidiary or joint venture, and may be asked to work in shifts.
• Not joining: If you are selected but do not join, you cannot apply to NCRTC again for two years.
• Updates: Any corrigendum or extension appears only in the Career section of the NCRTC website, not in newspapers.

After submitting, print the system-generated form with your Unique Registration Number, attach the supporting documents and send it by hand or post to Career Cell, HR Department, Gatishakti Bhawan, National Capital Region Transport Corporation, INA Colony, New Delhi - 110023.

• Envelope: Write "APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF GROUP GENERAL MANAGER/ DESIGN (UNDERGROUND) ON DEPUTATION BASIS – 44/2026/01" or the matching IMMEDIATE ABSORPTION BASIS – 44/2026/02 line.

• Lead the design team and process for underground structures from concept to execution
• Prepare and review designs, drawings, models and specifications for tunnels and underground stations
• Check that designs meet the applicable codes, standards and client requirements
