Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Railways, has released Vacancy Notice No. 2026/RVNL/26-CIVIL for one General Manager (Civil) post at its Kolkata location. The post is to be filled on deputation basis for five years, subject to government approval for exemption to RVNL from the rule of immediate absorption. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in planning, execution and management of infrastructure projects or those working in construction organisations.

Who Can Apply?

• Service: You must be an officer of IRSE / Civil Engineering service, or from other Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs)
• Eligibility (any one):
  • Officers holding posts substantively in analogous grade (CDA / IDA), OR
  • Officers holding posts in Level-13 (CDA) with 17 years' service in Group 'A', OR
  • Officers holding posts carrying grade IDA E-7 (Rs. 1,00,000-2,60,000) for four years
• Experience (Preferred): Planning, execution and management of infrastructure projects, or working in a construction organisation

Age Limit

• Maximum age: Below 58 years as on the closing date of the vacancy notice (18 June 2026)

Salary

• Pay scale: Level-14 (CDA) / IDA E-8 (Rs. 1,20,000 - Rs. 2,80,000)
• Selected candidates will get their parent pay plus deputation allowance as per government rules
• Plus other allowances admissible on deputation as per Government of India rules

Selection Process

Selection is based on review of applications received through proper channel:

1. Application Screening: Applications forwarded by the controlling officer along with vigilance/DAR clearance and last 5 years APAR grading
2. Eligibility Verification: Verification of service records and experience against the prescribed criteria
3. Final Selection: By RVNL based on merit, experience and APAR ratings

There is no written exam for this post. Selection is purely merit-based for deputation.

• Coordinate with zonal railways, state authorities and other stakeholders for project clearances
• Review and approve design drawings, tender documents and contract awards
• Ensure compliance with safety norms, environmental regulations and railway standards
