RailTel Consultant Engineer Recruitment 2026: Overview

RailTel Corporation of India Limited (RailTel), a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Railways, is hiring Consultant Engineers for its Northern Region. You will work on the telecom side of the RVNL tunnel project at Rishikesh and Srinagar in Uttarakhand, depending on where the project needs you.

This is a contract engagement from the open market, not a regular RailTel post. It suits engineers and diploma holders who have already worked on tunnel communication, railway telecom or similar infrastructure projects and want site-based work in the Himalayan rail corridor. Only experience gained after your qualification counts towards eligibility.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The contract runs for two years, renewed every year based on work needs and your performance. RailTel can end it earlier if work dries up or performance is unsatisfactory.
• Service agreement: You sign a one-year service agreement at joining. If you leave before completing it, you pay three months' gross salary and also serve the notice period or pay in lieu of it.
• Resignation: A three-month notice period is compulsory before you resign, in addition to the agreement terms.
• Reservation: The OBC-NCL post follows Government rules for work-charge posts; if no suitable OBC-NCL candidate is found, it may go to an unreserved candidate.
• RailTel staff: Regular, direct contractual or outsourced RailTel employees with at least three years of RailTel service get age relaxation equal to their service length, backed by an experience certificate from an E-5 level officer or above.
• Medical fitness: Final empanelment depends on passing a medical exam by a RailTel-designated authority.
• No travel allowance: RailTel will not pay travel costs for the interview or medical.
• Prior applications: At the interview you must give an undertaking listing any job you have applied for in a Central or State Government body or CPSE, or state clearly that you have applied nowhere.
• Background check: Your appointment stays provisional until your character, antecedents, caste certificate and documents are verified.

• Supervise overall project progress and site execution work on the tunnel telecom project
• Track material requirements, stock and use at site
• Carry out site surveys and supervise installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance of telecom systems
• Prepare and maintain project documents, work reports, inspection reports and compliance records
• Prepare and review as-built drawings and periodic progress reports
• Prepare measurement sheets and support billing documentation
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, OEMs and other stakeholders for smooth execution
