WAPCOS Power and Solar Experts Recruitment 2026: Overview

WAPCOS Limited, a Mini Ratna-I Government of India undertaking, is hiring experts on a project-term basis for its power transmission, distribution and solar work. The advert covers two pools: nine roles for Indian projects and seventeen roles for overseas projects in the Africa region. Many of the Indian posts are tied to externally aided projects funded by Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs), so earlier work under PMC or consultancy contracts carries real weight.

Most posts are senior and need a long record in high-voltage lines, substations, distribution networks or grid-connected solar plants. A few support roles (Environmental Investigation Officer, Project Accountant and Office Assistant) suit candidates who have spent a shorter time on power-sector projects.

Posts and Disciplines

Indian Projects

• Transmission and civil engineering: Transmission Expert and Civil Expert (Transmission & Substation) for line survey, tower and foundation work on 132 kV to 220 kV systems, including pile and well foundations at river crossings.
• Procurement and Contract Expert: runs procurement and contract management for externally aided transmission and substation packages; certification from an MDB is preferred.
• Environmental and social safeguards: Sr. Environmental Safeguard Expert and Sr. Social Safeguard Expert handle EIA/ESMP work, resettlement action plans and tribal development plans on linear infrastructure projects.
• Safety and environment monitoring: Occupational, Health & Safety Officer and Environmental Investigation Officer cover MDB safety policies and the environmental side of transmission and substation construction.
• Project support: Project Accountant for the accounts of power transmission and distribution projects, and Office Assistant for the project office work.

Overseas Projects (Africa Region)

• Distribution network roles: two Project Managers, Distribution Substation Engineer, Distribution Line Engineer, Distribution Engineer, Resident Project Manager, General Site Supervisor and two Distribution System Supervision Coordinators (Electrical and Civil) for refurbishment, last-mile connection and network construction projects.
• Solar and storage: Renewable Energy Engineer (BESS Specialist), Solar Power Plant Expert and Civil Engineer (Solar Power Plant) for ground-mounted photovoltaic plants connected to HTB/HTA networks; the Solar Power Plant Expert coordinates all construction activities of the plant.
• Transmission Expert (Overseas): planning, design and supervision of transmission lines at 132 kV and above.
• Distribution Protection and Control Design Engineer: design, testing and commissioning of distribution equipment and substation protection systems.
• Safeguards: Social and Gender Specialist, Health, Safety and Environment Expert and Social Expert; the Social and Gender Specialist also trains and guides the Social and Gender assistants.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project-term engagement: The posts are purely temporary and linked to WAPCOS project requirements.
• Variable number of posts: The count is not fixed; WAPCOS will decide it as per the needs of its projects.
• Posting: You can be posted anywhere in India or abroad; the exact place is finalised at the time of engagement.
• Pay: No fixed pay is advertised; it is discussed at engagement based on your qualification and experience.
• Portuguese language: The overseas Project Manager for distribution networks up to 66 kV, the Distribution Engineer, the General Site Supervisor and the Social and Gender Specialist must be fluent in Portuguese and need work experience in Sub-Saharan Africa.
• Serving employees: If you work in a government department, PSU or autonomous body, you must produce a no-objection or relieving certificate at joining.
• Shortlisting: WAPCOS may set its own criteria to limit the number of candidates it considers.
• Original certificates: Bring them with your CV at joining for verification; WAPCOS is not responsible for returning documents sent with the application.
