Selection Process
Your journey starts with an OMR-based written exam split into two parts. Part A tests your Punjabi language skills with 50 questions — it is qualifying in nature, and you need at least 25 marks (50%) to proceed. Part B covers General Knowledge, Punjab History, Reasoning, Punjabi, English, and ICT with 100 questions worth 100 marks. Negative marking of 0.25 per wrong answer applies only in Part B. Your merit is decided entirely on Part B marks. After clearing the written test, you will face a typing test at 30 words per minute in both English and Punjabi, which is also qualifying.
Preparation Tips for PSSSB Clerk Exam
- Download the official syllabus from sssb.punjab.gov.in — it has the exact topic-wise weightage for Part B
- Focus on GK and Reasoning first — these two sections carry 25 marks each, making up half of Part B
- Punjab History and Culture carries 17 marks — cover Sikh Gurus, freedom movements, Mughal-era Punjab, and cultural heritage thoroughly
- Practice your Punjabi — Part A is a gateway, and failing it means your Part B won't even be evaluated
- Time management is key — you get 150 minutes for 150 questions total, which is exactly 1 minute per question
- Take at least 5 mock tests to build speed and get comfortable with OMR sheets
