Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board (PSSSB) has released Advertisement No. 09 of 2026 for 170 Group-B posts of Assistant District Attorney (Sahayak Zila Attorney) in the Justice Department of Punjab. Punjabi at Matric level is mandatory for all candidates. Selection is through a written exam (no interview), and the application window closes on 20 May 2026.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must have an LLB (Professional Degree) from a recognised university.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of active practice at the Bar after enrolment with the Punjab Bar Council.
• Language: You must have Punjabi at Matric level (10th class).
• Domicile: Non-Punjab domicile candidates can apply but cannot claim reservation. Punjab domicile candidates need a valid Domicile Certificate.

Age Limit

• You must be between 18 and 37 years as on 01 January 2026.
• Age Relaxation: SC / BC of Punjab — up to 42 years.
• PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disabilities): up to 47 years.
• Other relaxations as per Punjab Government rules.

Salary

• Pay Scale: Rs. 35,400 - Rs. 1,12,400 per month (Pay Level 6).
• Plus Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance (TA) and other allowances as per Punjab Government rules.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in three stages:

1. Written Competitive Examination: 120 questions for 480 marks. Each correct answer carries 1 mark; 0.25 marks deducted for each wrong answer.

There is no interview. Final merit is based on the written exam score.

• Conduct prosecution of criminal cases on behalf of the State in district courts
• Prepare case briefs, arguments and supporting legal documents
• Examine and cross-examine witnesses during trials
• Coordinate with police officers and investigation teams on case preparation
• Maintain proper records of all assigned cases and hearing dates
• Advise district administration and police on legal matters when required
• Attend court hearings regularly and submit reports to senior officers
