Pondicherry University, through the Centre for Sustainability and Climate Studies in the School of Life Sciences, has released a job advertisement for 1 Lab Technician position in the Indo-Swiss Joint Research Project titled "Using millet-legume model intercropping systems to establish mycorrhiza-facilitated bioirrigation in dryland agriculture". Selection is by interview/skill assessment only — no written exam. The post is purely temporary for approximately 10 months.

Who Can Apply?

• Essential Qualification: Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university or institution, preferably in Science / Engineering / Agriculture / Life Sciences / Microbiology / Biotechnology / Environmental Science or allied disciplines
• Desirable: Master's degree in any discipline is an added advantage
• Preferred Experience: Handling laboratory equipment, greenhouse-related operations, field and lab sample processing, basic technical support for research activities
• Other Desirable Skills: Greenhouse maintenance, pot experiments, plant growth monitoring, soil/plant/microbial sample handling
• Driving: Ability to drive a car with a valid driving licence is desirable
• Travel: Willingness to travel for field visits and project-related work
• Soft Skills: Good organisational ability, basic computer skills, record keeping, multitasking capacity

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 50 years as on the last date of application
• Or as per DBT, Government of India / project norms
• Age Relaxation: Applicable for reserved category candidates as per Government of India norms

Salary

• Consolidated salary: Rs. 20,000 per month
• Or as per DBT, Government of India / project norms
• Duration: Approximately 10 months or until project completion (24 February 2027), whichever is earlier

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is based on:
