Pondicherry Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (PIHMCT) Assistant Lecturer Recruitment 2026 - 3 Posts

PIHMCT, sponsored jointly by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India and the Government of Puducherry, has invited applications for 3 Assistant Lecturer posts on a contractual basis. The institute trains students in hospitality, hotel management, and culinary arts for careers in hotels, restaurants, airlines, and cruise lines, and is looking for teaching staff who can guide the next batch of hospitality professionals. As one of the government-run institutes affiliated to the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT), PIHMCT follows the same academic and eligibility standards used across India's network of hotel management colleges. Two separate qualification routes are open — a postgraduate route and an experienced-graduate route — so check which one fits your profile before applying.

Who Can Apply?

Category A (Postgraduate route):

• Post Graduate degree in Hospitality/Tourism or an MBA from a recognised university.
• You should have qualified the NHTET (National Hospitality Teachers Eligibility Test conducted by NCHMCT) with the prescribed percentage.

Category B (Experienced-graduate route):

• Full-time Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality/Hotel Administration/Hotel Management/Culinary Art with at least 55% marks in aggregate.
• At least 2 years of hospitality industry experience.
• You should have qualified the NHTET conducted by NCHMCT.

Common conditions: Time spent teaching Hospitality at UG level or above on a full-time contract basis counts as valid experience. If you hold a Ph.D. in a Hospitality-related subject after meeting the above qualification, you do not need to qualify NHTET.

What is NHTET? It is a national-level test run by NCHMCT once a year to identify candidates suitable to teach as Assistant Lecturers and Teaching Associates at Institutes of Hotel Management across India. It has three objective-type papers, and your NHTET score is used as a weightage factor in your final selection here — so a strong score improves your chances even after you clear the skill test.

Age Limit

• You should not be older than 35 years (General Category) as on 1 July 2026.
• Age Relaxation: Applicable for other categories as per Government of Puducherry norms.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a consolidated pay of Rs. 35,000 per month.
• This is a contractual engagement, so no separate pay scale, grade pay, or allowances are mentioned in the notification.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

PIHMCT selects Assistant Lecturers through a skill test, not a written exam:

1. Skill Test: Conducted as prescribed by NCHMCT to check your subject knowledge and teaching ability in your area of specialisation, with weightage added for your NHTET score.

If you are already working in a Government/Semi-Government/Autonomous organisation, you must submit your application through proper channel. The institute reserves the right to cancel or republish the advertisement without assigning any reason, so keep an eye on the official website for updates after you apply.

How to Apply

1. Download the application form from the notification at py.gov.in.
2. Fill in your personal details — name, parents'/spouse's name, date of birth, nationality, category, and address.
3. Fill in your educational qualifications (10th, 12th, degree, postgraduate) with marks, and your work experience with organisation names and duration.
4. Mention whether you have passed NHTET and enter your marks/percentage.
5. Attach self-attested photocopies of your certificates and a recent passport-size colour photograph.
6. Send your completed application to the Principal, PIHMCT, Mahalakshmi Nagar, Murungapakkam, Puducherry - 605004.
7. Make sure it reaches the Principal's office on or before 25 October 2026. Incomplete applications will be rejected.
