NIMHANS has released a notification for 1 Project Research Scientist-I (Non-medical) post in the Department of Neurovirology, Bengaluru. Candidates who have a Post Graduate Degree in Virology, Microbiology, or Biotechnology (or PhD) can attend the walk-in interview. The walk-in date is 14 April 2026. You will get a salary of Rs. 56,000 per month plus 30% HRA (total Rs. 72,800/month).
NIMHANS Project Research Scientist-I Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post
National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru — an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare — has released notification for 1 Project Research Scientist-I (Non-medical) post. This is a contract position under an ICMR-funded research project on Innate Lymphoid Cell response and single cell transcriptomic profiles in acute Chikungunya virus infection, led by Dr. Manjunatha M V, Additional Professor, Department of Neurovirology. The project duration is 3 years, with initial appointment for 6 months (renewable based on performance). Life science researchers with experience in virology, immunology, or molecular biology should apply.
Who Can Apply?
- Essential Qualification: Post Graduate Degree (including integrated PG degrees) in Virology, Microbiology, or Biotechnology from a recognized university with experience in the relevant field, OR a PhD degree.
- Desirable Experience: Hands-on experience in Virology, Cell culture, Immunology, Flow cytometry, and Real Time PCR. Good knowledge of quantitative tools/techniques and statistical analysis. Research publications are desirable.
Age Limit
- Maximum age: 35 years
- Age Relaxation: As per NIMHANS norms for reserved categories
Salary
- You will get a salary of Rs. 56,000 per month (consolidated)
- Plus 30% HRA — that brings your total monthly pay to approximately Rs. 72,800
- This is a contract position under an ICMR-funded project
Selection Process
Selection will be done through a Walk-in-cum-Written Test:
- Written Examination: You need to score a minimum of 50% marks in the written test to qualify for the next stage.
- Skill Test / Interview: Candidates who clear the written test will appear for the skill test and interview. For direct interview, you need at least 50% marks in the interview.
Note: Possessing the essential qualifications alone does not guarantee selection. NIMHANS reserves the right to select the most suitable candidate.
