NCJMH Senior Resident Recruitment 2026: Overview

Dr. N.C. Joshi Memorial Hospital (NCJMH), a Delhi Government hospital in Karol Bagh, New Delhi, is holding a walk-in interview for Senior Residents in three clinical departments. The engagement is emergent and purely ad hoc under the Residency Scheme, so it suits doctors who have just finished their PG and want hands-on senior residency experience in a busy city hospital. There is no written test and no application form to post in advance — you simply turn up with your documents on interview day.

Posts and Disciplines

• Pathology: a Senior Resident seat in the hospital laboratory, set aside for an EWS candidate.
• Obstetrics and Gynaecology: two seats in the maternity and women's health unit — one unreserved and one for an OBC (Delhi) candidate.
• Dermatology: one unreserved seat in the skin department.

You must hold your MBBS plus PG degree or diploma in the same specialty you are applying for, and that qualification must already be entered with the Delhi Medical Council (DMC).

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The first appointment is for 89 days or until a regular candidate joins, whichever is earlier. Any extension depends on a satisfactory work and conduct report and on the vacancy still being open.
• Residency cap: You should not have already completed three years of Senior Residency.
• Reserved seats left unfilled: If no SC/ST/OBC candidate turns up, the seat goes to a General candidate on an ad hoc basis for 44 days only.
• OBC benefit: Only OBC (Delhi) candidates get reservation or age relaxation. OBC candidates from outside Delhi are treated as unreserved and must apply under the UR category. You also need a non-creamy layer certificate along with your caste certificate by the cut-off date.
• Accepted OBC certificates: Either a certificate issued by the Revenue Department of GNCT of Delhi, or one issued outside Delhi for a community notified as OBC by GNCT of Delhi — and that one must be based on a Delhi certificate held by a family member who lived in Delhi before 8 September 1993.
• Joining window: You get a maximum of 7 days from accepting the offer to join; after that the offer is cancelled.
• Duties: The hospital assigns duties to Senior Residents from time to time in the interest of patient care.
• Rules: Your service is governed by the Residency Scheme of the Government of India and the Civil Services temporary-service rules the notice cites.
• Waiting list: A panel of wait-listed candidates will be kept for Senior Resident vacancies that come up later.
• Travel: No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.
