The Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) has released Advertisement No. 02/2026 dated 2 February 2026 for 39 Assistant Town Planner (Sahayak Nagar Niyojak) posts in the Urban Development Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh. This is a permanent, Gazetted Class II position with a two-year probation. Selection is through an offline OMR-based exam followed by an interview. Within these, 14 posts are reserved for Madhya Pradesh domicile women and 3 posts for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) across the LD, HH, and MD categories. Reservation applies only to original residents (domicile) of Madhya Pradesh; candidates from other states are treated as Unreserved.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: A 4-year Bachelor's degree in Planning, OR a Master's degree (M.Plan) in Town Planning / Urban Planning / City Planning / Housing Planning / Rural Planning / Infrastructure Planning / Regional Planning / Transport Planning / Landscape Architecture / Town Design / Environmental Planning, OR a pass in the AITP (Associate of the Institute of Town Planners India) examination.
• A B.E. or M.E. degree in Transport & Planning is NOT accepted for these posts.
• Employment Registration: Madhya Pradesh domicile candidates must hold a valid Employment Exchange registration up to the document submission date. Candidates from other states are exempt.

Age Limit

• You should be between 21 and 40 years old as on 1 January 2027.
• Age Relaxation: 5 years for Madhya Pradesh domicile SC / ST / OBC, women, PwD, and government / corporation / board employees and Nagar Sainik.
• The maximum age after relaxation cannot cross 45 years.
• Age relaxation and reservation apply only to Madhya Pradesh domicile candidates.

Salary

• Selected candidates get a pay of Rs. 56,100 to Rs. 1,77,500 per month under the 7th Pay Matrix (Gazetted Class II).
• You will also get DA, HRA, TA, and other allowances as per Madhya Pradesh government rules.

Application Fee

• Madhya Pradesh domicile SC / ST / OBC (non-creamy layer) / EWS / PwD: Rs. 250
• All other candidates and applicants from outside MP: Rs. 500
• Plus an MP Online portal charge of Rs. 40 per session.
• Payment mode: online through credit card, debit card, net banking, or at an MP Online kiosk.

Late fee applies after the normal deadline: Rs. 3,000 up to 26 March 2026 and Rs. 25,000 from 27 March to 26 August 2026. An error-correction charge of Rs. 50 per session applies for edits.

Selection Process

Selection is done in two stages:

1. Written Exam (OMR-based, objective type): An offline objective test held at examination centres in Indore, with negative marking for wrong answers. The detailed exam scheme and syllabus will be published on the MPPSC website.
2. Interview: Candidates up to three times the number of vacancies (plus tied candidates) are called for interview. The interview carries 100 marks, with a minimum qualifying score of 41 for Unreserved and 31 for reserved / PwD candidates.

The final merit list is prepared on the combined marks of the written exam and interview. The OBC result follows an 87% main list and 13% provisional list split, subject to pending court cases.
