MPPSC is hiring 125 Assistant Professors in Botany for government colleges under the Higher Education Department, Madhya Pradesh. The Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) has released Advertisement No. 25/2025 to fill 125 Assistant Professor (Botany) posts in government colleges of Madhya Pradesh. This is a permanent (Sthayi) gazetted second-class post. The reserved posts are meant only for candidates who are original residents (domicile) of Madhya Pradesh. The result is issued in two parts as per the OBC reservation court order: a main part (87%) and a provisional part (13%).
Who Can Apply?
To apply for the Assistant Professor (Botany) post, you must meet all the requirements below.
- Master's Degree: You need a postgraduate degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade on a point scale) in Botany or a related subject from a recognised Indian University.
- NET / SLET / SET: You must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) by UGC, or CSIR, or an equivalent SLET/SET. MP SET is accepted; SET of other states is not valid.
- PhD holders: If you hold a PhD as per UGC Regulations 2009, you are exempted from the NET/SLET/SET requirement.
- Relaxation in marks: SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer), PwD, and women candidates get a 5% relaxation in the minimum marks.
Age Limit
- You should have completed 21 years but not completed 40 years of age as on 1 January 2026.
- Age Relaxation: SC, ST, OBC, women, PwD, and MP government employees get upper age relaxation as per Madhya Pradesh Government rules (Appendix-1 of the notification).
Salary
- Selected candidates will get an entry pay of Rs. 57,700 per month under Academic Pay Level 10 of the 7th Pay Commission.
- With yearly increments, the pay in this level can rise up to about Rs. 1,82,400 per month.
- You will also get Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and other allowances as per Madhya Pradesh Government rules.
Application Fee
- The exam fee is paid online through credit card, debit card, or net banking, along with the MP Online portal charge.
- If you missed the regular deadline of 16 May 2026, you can still apply with a late fee of Rs. 3,000 up to 23 May 2026.
- After that, you can apply with a late fee of Rs. 25,000 up to 5 August 2026.

Selection Process
The selection is done in two stages based on your exam and interview marks:
- Written Exam (OMR based): An objective-type (MCQ) exam is held on the Botany subject, with negative marking for wrong answers.
- Interview: Candidates who score high enough are shortlisted at three times the number of posts per category (plus tie candidates) and called for an interview.
The final merit is prepared by adding your written exam marks and interview marks. The exam is held at centres in Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, and Jabalpur. The detailed exam scheme and syllabus are published on mppsc.mp.gov.in.
