The Kerala Public Service Commission (Kerala PSC) has released Notification No. 053/2026 to fill one Upholsterer vacancy in the Kerala State Water Transport Department. This is a permanent state government job filled through direct recruitment. 4% of the reported vacancies are reserved for differently-abled candidates, as per the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016. Kerala PSC will prepare a ranked list of selected candidates that stays valid for a minimum of one year and up to three years, so more vacancies reported during this period may also be filled from the same list.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must have passed SSLC (Class 10) or an equivalent examination.
• Trade Certificate: You need a National Trade Certificate (NTC) in the Upholstery trade.
• Experience option: If you do not have the NTC, you can still apply with an experience certificate proving 3 years of upholstery work in a Government, Quasi-Government, Public Sector, or Registered Private Sector organisation.

Your practical skill will be checked through a Practical Test conducted by Kerala PSC, so real hands-on experience helps.

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 40 years old. Only candidates born between 2 January 1986 and 1 January 2008 (both dates included) are eligible.
• Age Relaxation: SC, ST, and OBC candidates get the usual age relaxation as per Kerala PSC general conditions.

Salary

• The pay scale for this post is Rs. 25,100 to Rs. 57,900 per month.
• You will also get Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and other allowances as per Kerala Government rules.

Selection Process

Selection for this post is based mainly on your practical skill in upholstery work:

1. Practical Test: Kerala PSC will conduct a practical test to check how well you can do upholstery work.

3. Ranked List: A ranked list of successful candidates will be published and will stay in force for at least one year.
4. Document Verification: You must produce original documents for qualification, experience, age, and community when the Commission asks for them.
