MEA Consultant (UN Issues) Recruitment 2026

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India has invited applications for the post of Consultant (UN Issues) in its UNES Division. This is a contract-based position based in New Delhi. If you have a strong academic background in international relations, economics, or law and want to work with India's foreign policy team on United Nations issues, this is a great opportunity.

Who Can Apply

Education Qualification:

• Doctoral degree (PhD) in Economics, International Relations, Political Science, Development Economics, or Law, OR
• Master's degree in any of the above subjects, OR
• Any suitable qualification along with at least 1 year of experience as a Researcher or Consultant

Experience:

• Minimum 1 year of experience working as a Researcher or Consultant
• Candidates with prior experience of working with the Government of India will be preferred

Skills Required:

• Good written and spoken English
• Knowledge of computers, including preparing documents, presentations, and datasheets

Age Limit: Maximum 45 years as on 23 February 2026

Nationality: Only Indian nationals can apply

Vacancy Details

Salary

The selected candidate will get a consolidated salary of up to Rs. 10,00,000 per annum (about Rs. 83,333 per month). The exact amount will depend on your experience and qualifications.

Please note: This post does not come with HRA, TA/DA, Provident Fund (PF), Pension, Gratuity, or Medical benefits. The salary is all-inclusive and consolidated.

Contract Terms

• The contract is for 1 year and can be extended based on performance
• Working hours are 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday to Friday
• You cannot take up any other job or paid work during this engagement
• Place of posting: New Delhi (South Block / JN Bhawan / Sushma Swaraj Bhawan / Patiala House)

Selection Process

1. Shortlisting — MEA will shortlist candidates based on their qualifications and experience
2. Interview or Written Test — Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview or written test, as decided by the selection committee
