SAIL Collieries Division is hiring 3 General Duty Medical Officers (GDMO) on a contract basis for its hospitals in Jharkhand and West Bengal. If you have an MBBS degree and a valid medical council registration, you can attend the walk-in interview directly - there is no online application. The interview is on 30 July 2026 at Chasnalla, Dhanbad. Even retired doctors are welcome to apply.

Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) - Collieries Division GDMO Recruitment 2026 - 3 Posts

Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise, is hiring doctors for its Collieries Division dispensaries through Advertisement No. CD/HR/Rectt/26-27/68 dated 10 July 2026. The Collieries Division runs coal mines at Chasnalla, Jitpur and Tasra (Dhanbad, Jharkhand) and Ramnagore (Paschim Bardhaman, West Bengal), and selected doctors may be posted at any of these locations at the sole discretion of the Appointing Authority. Ex-employees of SAIL and other PSUs or government departments can also apply, as long as they have not separated by opting for voluntary retirement.

Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification: MBBS degree from a recognized university, with a valid registration certificate from the State Medical Council or Medical Council of India
  • Who can apply: Interested and eligible candidates, including retired doctors, can walk in for the interview. Ex-employees of SAIL plants/units and other PSUs/government departments can also apply, provided they have not separated by opting for voluntary retirement (ex-employees must submit a self-certificate to this effect)

Age Limit

  • You should not be more than 69 years old as on the date of this advertisement (10 July 2026).

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

The selection will be done in the following stages:

  1. Walk-in Interview: Held directly at the venue - you do not need to submit a separate application form in advance.
  2. Medical Screening: Shortlisted candidates go through a medical screening before final selection.

Your engagement starts immediately after selection is completed and orders are issued. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the walk-in interview. The engagement is purely contractual and does not give any right to a regular appointment at SAIL.

Engagement Terms

  • The engagement can be terminated by either party with one month's notice.
  • SAIL can end the contract without notice in cases of poor performance, misconduct, conviction by a court of law, insolvency, loss of medical license, or serious financial irregularity.
  • If a doctor is found medically unfit and unlikely to be able to discharge normal duty for a considerable period, the contract can also be terminated.
  • Those who are presently employed with any PSU, Autonomous Body or Government department must declare this in their application.

  3. Gather your original documents along with one set of self-attested copies.
  4. Reach the Saturday Club, SAIL Officers Colony, SAIL Collieries Division, Chasnalla, Dhanbad, Jharkhand - 828135 between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM on the interview day for registration.
  5. Attend the walk-in interview at 10:00 AM on 30 July 2026 with your filled form and documents.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general medical care and treatment to patients at the dispensary
  • Conduct routine health check-ups and screenings for employees and their families
  • Handle medical emergencies and refer critical cases to higher centres when needed
  • Maintain accurate patient records and medical documentation
  • Prescribe medicines and monitor patient recovery
  • Coordinate with specialists and hospital staff for patient care
  • Conduct medical screening for newly selected and existing employees
  • Follow SAIL's healthcare protocols and safety guidelines at the Collieries Division
