AIIMS Deoghar has released a rolling advertisement (Advt. No. AIIMS/DEO/ACAD.SEC./SR/342) inviting applications for 147 Senior Resident (Non-Academic) posts spread across 39 departments, from Anesthesiology to Urology. This is a rolling recruitment with periodic cutoff dates — the current cycle's cutoff for both soft copy and hard copy submission is 4 August 2026. The post is initially for 1 year and can be extended up to a maximum of 3 years under the Residency Scheme 1992. Freshly qualified postgraduate doctors, as well as those who haven't yet completed 3 years of Senior Residency elsewhere, should apply. AIIMS Deoghar is an Institution of National Importance under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, and Senior Residents here get hands-on exposure to a high patient load across general and super-specialty departments, along with hostel accommodation as per Institute rules.

Category-wise, the 147 posts include 49 Unreserved, 41 OBC-NCL, 28 SC, 16 ST, and 13 EWS seats, with 5% horizontal reservation for PwBD candidates. AIIMS Deoghar has clearly stated that the department-wise vacancy numbers can increase or decrease at the time of selection, so treat them as provisional. If a vacancy reserved for the EWS category cannot be filled by an EWS candidate, it is not carried forward as backlog to the next recruitment year — other category candidates may be considered provisionally under the Unreserved category for that seat.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: A postgraduate degree — MD / MS / DNB / MDS — from a recognized University or Institute.
• DNB holders: If your DNB is in a broad specialty, you must submit documentary proof that it is equivalent to MD/MS.
• Transfusion Medicine & Blood Bank department: You specifically need an MD (Transfusion Medicine & Blood Bank) or DNB (Transfusion Medicine & Blood Bank).
• Residency history: If you have already completed 3 years of Senior Residency anywhere, you are not eligible to apply again.

Age Limit

• The upper age limit is 45 years as on the day of the interview.
• Age Relaxation: SC/ST candidates get up to 5 years, and OBC candidates get up to 3 years relaxation.
• OPH (Physically Handicapped) candidates: Up to 5 years for Unreserved, 8 years for OBC, and 10 years for SC/ST category.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get an entry pay of Rs. 67,700 per month under Level 11 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix (going up to Rs. 2,08,700).
• You will also get DA, HRA, NPA, and other allowances as applicable to Central Government doctors.

Selection Process

Selection happens through the following steps:

1. Interview / Written Test: Candidates are shortlisted and selected through an interview, or a written test in departments where the Institute decides it is needed.
2. Document Verification: You must submit self-attested photocopies of all required certificates along with your application; originals are checked at the time of appointment.

This is a full-time appointment — private practice of any kind is not permitted, and you may be required to work in shifts and be posted anywhere within the Institute as per the discretion of the Medical Superintendent, Dean, or Director.

• Assist consultants during ward rounds, procedures, and surgeries
• Manage emergency cases and attend on-call duties as per roster

• Order and interpret relevant investigations for diagnosis and treatment
• Follow infection control and hospital safety protocols at all times
