Kerala Agricultural University (KAU), through its Onattukara Regional Agricultural Research Station in Kayamkulam, has released notification No. A2/1354/2019 dated 27 June 2026 for 1 Assistant Professor post in the Agronomy department. This is a contract appointment for one year, or until a regular candidate is appointed, whichever is earlier. In most cases there is no written exam — the selection is done through a walk-in interview, so even freshers with a Master's degree in Agronomy can come and try their luck.

Please note that this is a purely provisional, temporary post. It does not give you any right to a permanent job or regularisation in KAU, and the university can end the appointment if your performance is found unsatisfactory. If you are looking for short-term teaching and research experience at a respected agricultural university, this is a good opportunity to add to your profile.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need a Master's degree (M.Sc Ag) in Agronomy recognised by Kerala Agricultural University, with a minimum of 55% marks, along with the NET qualification.
• If you do not have NET: You can still apply. If no NET-qualified candidates turn up, candidates who hold only a Master's degree in Agronomy will also be considered.
• Desirable (extra advantage): A Ph.D and teaching experience in Agronomy will improve your chances at the interview.

Age Limit

• You should not be more than 40 years old as on 1 January 2026.
• There is no minimum age mentioned in the notification.
• Age relaxation is given to eligible reserved category candidates as per existing Kerala Government rules.

Salary

• You will get a fixed consolidated pay of Rs. 44,100 per month.
• Since this is a contract post, the pay is consolidated — there are no separate DA or HRA allowances added on top.
• No TA/DA will be paid for attending the walk-in interview, so plan your travel accordingly.

Selection Process

Selection is done mainly through a walk-in interview:

1. Document Verification: Your age, caste, qualification and experience certificates are checked at the venue. You must bring originals along with self-attested copies.
2. Walk-in Interview: Eligible candidates are interviewed on the spot on 18 July 2026.
3. Written Test (only if needed): If a large number of candidates turn up, KAU will hold a short written test first to shortlist candidates for the interview.

If you are selected, you will sign an agreement on a Rs. 200 stamp paper before joining.
