RGCB Junior Research Fellow Recruitment 2026: Overview

BRIC-Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB), Thiruvananthapuram, an institute of the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, is hiring one Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under a CSIR-ASPIRE project. The project runs preclinical studies on targeting Beta-hCG as a treatment strategy for BRCA1 promoter hypermethylated breast cancers.

You will work in the lab of Dr. Priya Srinivas, Scientist G and Dean at RGCB. This is a project fellowship on contract, which makes it a good entry point if you want to start a research career in cancer biology and later move towards a PhD.

The fellowship follows CSIR rules for research and sponsored schemes, so a valid NET or GATE qualification in a Life Sciences branch is part of the basic requirement. Two years of bench experience in molecular biology, cloning, transfection, transduction and animal cell culture is listed as desirable, so candidates with that background will stand out.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Citizenship: Only Indian citizens can apply.
  • CSIR norms: Eligibility follows the CSIR HRDG guidelines for research schemes, available at csirhrdg.res.in.
  • Tenure: The fellowship runs for one year or until the project ends, whichever comes first.
  • No future claim: Selection does not give you a right to any later position at RGCB, permanent or otherwise. The post ends with the project.
  • Government staff: If you work in a government organisation, send your application through proper channel.

Application Submission Notes

You apply only through the online form on the RGCB temporary positions portal. Forms that are not in the prescribed format are rejected without review.

If you also want another RGCB project post, fill a separate application for each position. RGCB shortlists people on the stated criteria, and only shortlisted candidates are called for the online selection interview.
