High Court of Karnataka (Karnataka HC) has released two separate notifications for filling 70 Assistant Court Secretary positions in its Bengaluru establishment. Out of these, 59 posts fall under the Regular Posts Category (RPC) and 11 posts are under the Kalyana Karnataka Region (KKR) quota, which includes 7 backlog vacancies. Who Can Apply?
- Education: You need a Bachelor's degree in Science, Arts, Commerce, Business Management, Computer Applications, or Business Administration from a recognised university.
- Shorthand & Typing: You must also hold a Senior Grade or Proficiency Grade certificate in English Shorthand AND a Senior Grade Typing certificate in English, conducted by the Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board or any recognised board.
- Alternative Qualification: Instead of the above shorthand and typing certificates, you can hold a Diploma in Commercial Practice or Secretarial Practice in English from the Board of Technical Examinations.
- Computer Knowledge: You must have knowledge of computer operations — a certificate in a Computer Basics course of at least 3 months from a recognised institute is required.
Age Limit
- You should be at least 18 years old as on the last date of application (15 April 2026).
- General Merit: Maximum 40 years
- Category-II(A), II(B), III(A), III(B) (OBC): Maximum 43 years
- SC/ST/Category-I: Maximum 45 years
Salary
- Selected candidates will receive a salary of Rs. 44,900 to Rs. 1,42,400 per month under Level-7 of the pay matrix.
- You will also get DA, HRA, and other admissible allowances as per Karnataka government rules.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)
There is no preliminary or written examination. Selection is based on two stages:
- Shorthand Test (100 marks, minimum 60 to pass): A passage of 600 words will be dictated at 120 words per minute over about 5 minutes. You then need to transcribe the dictated passage on a computer within 45 minutes.
- Interview (20 marks, minimum 10 to pass): Candidates who clear the Shorthand Test will be called for an interview. Up to 5 times the number of vacancies will be called in each category.
Total: 120 marks. Minimum required: 70 marks overall.
