IREL is offering 39 Graduate, Technician and Trade Apprentice seats at its Manavalakurichi unit in Kanyakumari district, Tamil Nadu. If you have a relevant B.E., Diploma or ITI qualification, you can apply after registering on the prescribed Government apprenticeship portal. Your completed hard-copy application must reach IREL by 31 August 2026. The age range is 18 to 25 years, with relaxation for SC, ST, OBC (NCL) and PwD applicants.

IREL (India) Limited has issued Notification No. IREL (India) Limited/MK/Apprentices Engagement/2026/01 for apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act, 1961. The intake includes 4 Graduate Apprentices, 4 Technician Apprentices and 31 Trade Apprentices across engineering disciplines and ITI trades. Selection is based on qualifying-exam marks, followed by document checks and a medical fitness assessment, so there is no written recruitment test in this notice.

Vacancy Details

Discipline-wise Seats

• Graduate: Electrical and Electronics 2, Civil 1 and Mechanical 1.
• Technician: Mechanical 1, Electrical 1 and Civil 2.
• Trade: Fitter 10, Electrician 5, Mechanic (Motor Vehicle) 1, Welder 4, Electronic/Instrument Mechanic 2, Refrigeration and AC Mechanic 1, Turner 1, Plumber/Fitter 2, Carpenter 2 and PASAA 3.

The normal training period is one year for most disciplines. Plumber/Fitter and Carpenter apprentices have a two-year training period under the notified schedule.

Who Can Apply?

Your qualification must match the apprentice category and discipline you choose. You may apply for only one trade, so check the qualification carefully before filling in the form.

Graduate Apprentice

• Electrical: B.E. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
• Civil: B.E. in Civil Engineering.
• Mechanical: B.E. in Mechanical Engineering.

Technician Apprentice

• Mechanical: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• Electrical: Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
• Civil: Diploma in Civil Engineering.

Trade Apprentice

• Relevant ITI: You need the ITI trade specified for Fitter, Electrician, Mechanic (Motor Vehicle), Welder, Instrument Mechanic, Refrigeration and AC Mechanic, Turner, Plumber or Carpenter.
• PASAA: You must have passed the Computer Operator and Programming Assistant trade.

Important Eligibility Conditions

• Study mode: Qualifications obtained through distance, part-time or correspondence study are not accepted.
• Previous training: You cannot apply if you have already completed or are currently doing apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act.
• Higher qualifications: Applicants with qualifications above the stated entry level, including M.E./M.Tech, MCA, MBA, CA/ICWA, Ph.D. or LL.B., need not apply.
• Reservation: SC, ST, OBC, EWS and PwD reservation follows the percentage applicable in Tamil Nadu.

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 25 years old as on 31 August 2026.
• SC/ST relaxation: Up to 5 years.
• OBC (NCL) relaxation: Up to 3 years.
• PwD relaxation: Up to 10 years.

Stipend

• You will receive a stipend at the rate prescribed under the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992 and later Government notifications.
• No additional benefit or financial assistance is provided by IREL during the training period.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

IREL will prepare a merit list from marks in the prescribed qualifying examination. When marks are tied, higher qualifying marks are considered first and then the older applicant gets preference by date of birth.

1. Merit-Based Shortlisting: Your educational qualification, marks and age are checked against the notice. The stated priority order covers land-affected applicants, specified peripheral villages, Tamil Nadu residents and other applicants.
2. Document Verification: Shortlisted applicants must show original certificates and one set of self-attested copies on the date communicated by IREL.
3. Medical Examination: Final engagement depends on being declared medically fit by an IREL-authorized Medical Officer.

Before joining, selected applicants must also provide a valid Police Verification Certificate. IREL may place an apprentice in any department of the Manavalakurichi unit for training, and the apprenticeship does not create a claim to regular employment.

How to Apply

1. Choose the one apprentice discipline that matches your B.E., Diploma or ITI qualification.
2. For Trade Apprentice, register at apprenticeshipindia.org and use IREL Establishment Registration No. E05203301006.
3. For Graduate or Technician Apprentice, register on nats.education.gov.in and use Establishment Registration No. STNKKC000004.
4. Fill in the Annexure A application form from the official notification, preferably typed on A4-size paper.
5. Affix a recent passport-size photograph and attach the required self-attested certificates.
6. Write APPLICATION FOR ENGAGEMENT OF APPRENTICE AGAINST NOTIFICATION NO. IREL (India) Limited/MK/Apprentices Engagement/2026/01 on the outer envelope.
7. Send the form, preferably by speed post, to The Chief Manager - HRM (Legal & ER), IREL (India) Limited, Manavalakurichi, Kanyakumari District, Tamil Nadu - 629252.
8. Make sure the application reaches the office by 31 August 2026; the dispatch or postmark date does not protect a late application.

Portal registration alone is not a complete application. IREL must receive the hard copy with supporting documents, and the company is not responsible for postal delay or loss in transit.
