SCI Junior Court Attendant Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Supreme Court of India (SCI) is recruiting Junior Court Attendants for its Registry in New Delhi through open direct recruitment. It is a Group C Non-Clerical post, and the selected candidates go onto a merit panel from which appointments are made. If you have passed Class 10 or Class 12 and want a central government job at the country's highest court, this is one of the few openings that does not ask for a degree.

The vacancy figure is tentative — the Registry says it may change the number of posts, and can also restrict, enlarge or alter the selection process if needed.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Qualification ceiling: the advertisement lists Class 10 as the minimum and Class 12 / 10+2 as the maximum qualification, so read the notice carefully if you hold a higher degree.
  • Panel, not a guaranteed job: being placed on the merit panel does not give you a right to appointment.
  • Reservation: follows Rule 4A of the Supreme Court Officers and Servants (Conditions of Service and Conduct) Rules, 1961. Reserved-category candidates who qualify on relaxed standards are considered only against reserved vacancies.
  • Interview shortlisting: if many candidates clear the qualifying mark in the written test, they are called for interview in a 1:3 ratio to the vacancies, in merit order.
  • Exam cities: the objective test is held in 131 cities across India; you choose cities in order of preference, but the Registry can shift you to another city. The interview is online or in person in Delhi.
  • Working candidates: if you work in a government department, PSU, statutory body or nationalised bank, you must show a No Objection Certificate at document verification. If you get a job during the process, you must inform the Recruitment Cell at recruitment.cell@sci.nic.in.
  • Candidates with disabilities: scribe and compensatory time are allowed under Government of India rules, using the Appendix-I or Appendix-II proforma.
  • No travel allowance: no TA/DA is paid for attending the test or interview, and requests to change the centre or date are not accepted.
  • False information: anyone found using fake documents or false details is disqualified, can be prosecuted and is barred from future Registry jobs — even after appointment.

Application Submission Notes

You can apply only online through the link on www.sci.gov.in; postal forms are not accepted. The fee is paid online through the UCO Bank payment gateway. You do not need to post the printout to the Registry — keep it and your application number, which you will need to download the admit card.

If you submit more than one form, only the last one counts. Your name, parents' names and date of birth must match your Class 10 certificate, and the category you choose cannot be changed later.

Responsibilities

  • Carry files, paper books, books and records within the Registry
  • Dust and clean tables, chairs, almirahs, windows and book-shelves
  • Serve tea, coffee, snacks and water to officers and staff of the Registry
  • Handle other duties assigned by the Registry
